The "unbeatable" Bruins down 4-1 in game 4

If I remember correctly, Boston slumped into the playoffs just like San Jose. Who was their first round opponent? Oh yeah. The Canadiens. Without their Top 2 Dmen.

Well, I think even though Markov and Schenider were there, the Bruins would beat the Habs. The Habs' offenses were all done by only one guy, Kovalev. While the Blues actually made some close games against the Canucks, the Habs just got OWNED.

You don't punch The Captain. Funny thing is, I can't imagine something like that happening now. We saw a fan dump some water/beer/liquid on Torts a few weeks ago, but I can't remember a time a fan actually reachedover the glass and punched someone, much less a player.

I really can't either. There's definitely more expected for fan/player interactions now-a-days.. not to mention higher security to make sure these kinds of things don't happen again.

I still hate them, though. <_<

I'll always love Cam Neely for calling Claude Lemieux a "gutless puke". Because is there not a more succinct way of describing him? I think not.

I'm not too happy about it. Boston's my dad's team so they're essentially my eastern team. Plus I'd love to see a Detroit-Boston final.

The Pens showed NO signs of weakness last year, and it bit them in the ass. They actually are facing adversity now.

The Canes have faced adversity and have beaten the Devils in seven (winning the game with two goals in under a minute in the third) and may beat the top East seeded Bruins in five games.

Either team coming from the east(if those two teams win and the Wings make it to the finals) will be difficult. I'd rather face the Canes because I think they are not as talented as the Penguins offensively and I think our offense could solve Ward (we have solved Hiller and Mason).

The Pens still suffer from a horrible lack of depth. If shutting down Malkin and Crosby resulted in no scoring last year... just imagine this year. Plus their defense has somehow gotten weaker.

The Pens just aren't a better team than they were last year- not by any stretch of the imagination.

On the other hand, the Canes are as clutch as a team full of Franzens.

Karma.

This is why I hate them. Is it rational? Nope. Probably not even normal. But I'm rooting for the Canes because I hold such disdain for that team/organization. :ranting: :ranting: :ranting::P

If classless fans ruined an organization's chances of success the New York Rangers would be stuck in permanent loserville.

Wait a minute... touche.

I wasn't saying that the Canadiens were any good. They were terrible for the entire 2nd half of the season. What I was implying (with my punctuation :P ) is that they are the Candiens. AND they were without their #2 Dmen. I would think the Blue Jackets would've had a decent chance at sweeping them.

It'll be interesting to see what Gonchar's status ends up being, since his return from the shoulder injury was maybe the single biggest factor in the Pens no longer sucking. If he's going to be out, then it's go Pens all the way.

As an fyi, no one threw beer at Tortz. He get mad because a fan was taunting him and sprayed water at him.

Drake: Other than Staal, who do the Canes have? Detroit has better depth than both of those teams, but the difference is Pittsburgh has two all stars while Carolina has one.

It's 88.2% in favor of the visitors (Carolina) winning the series. Goodbye Bruins...

When this all started there were 3 top teams contending for the Cup - Detroit, San Jose and Boston. Aneheim and Carolina are the surprise teams but hands down the most talented team that still has a legitament shot (series tied 2-2) is the Wings.

I think that it is ours to lose. Granted that things could change quickly but.....

I really though the B's would hand Carolina their arse in this one, so I'm deciding on what to stuff my crow with on this one.

It is really surprising, I mean San Jose has a history of early exits and Anahiem is a tough opponent, no one was terribly shocked when they went bye-bye. Boston.. wow yaknow. I wonder if they had a false sense of security after dispatching a piss-poor banged up Montreal?

It's looking like if the Wings make it to the finals ( if they get past the Ducks, I think we will make it) there is at least a 75% chance it will be a rematch of a cup final from the last 12 years. Washington in 98, Carolina in 02 and the Pens from last year. We went a combined 12 and 3 against them I believe. If I had my choice, I'd like to play the Pens again. I think it will be the Canes though, they look really good and Ward is playing amazing. Unlike some people though, I think it would be a very entertaining series and wouldn't be bad for the nhl at all. When is the last time the Wings and B's played each other in the finals or have they never?

When it comes to the Wings you can always write a nice playoff story. "Big Brother Detroit welcomes neophyte Columbus team to the post-season." "Detroit and Anaheim seek head-to-head dominance in '07 rematch."

The Canucks still have a few key players from the '02 comeback, or, Chicago and Detroit are Original Six teams and the Wings beat the Hawks back in '95. As you mentioned the Wings will either face a higher seeded Original Six opponent should they make the Final, or it'll be a rematch of one of the past victories.

Of course all this depends on the Wings actually playing to potential and earning their berth in the next rounds.

lol at anyone who ever thought the Bruins were unbeatable.

Yeah, in hindsight it's funny, but one can only judge from observable data and both the Sharks and Bruins played well in the regular season. There is no tangible reason to assume they couldn't keep that up. A prediction of playoff defeat based on intangibles is nothing more than a prediction and one shouldn't be too proud of getting lucky.

With that said I predicted at the start of the playoff Carolina would beat NJ in seven and beat Boston. You may prostrate yourself before me if you like.

Drake: Other than Staal, who do the Canes have? Detroit has better depth than both of those teams, but the difference is Pittsburgh has two all stars while Carolina has one.

Ray Whitney. Erik Cole and Rod Brind'Amour are pretty good, but they aren't built the same way as Pittsburgh. Carolina right now is a lot like Boston during the regular season and in round one: a bunch of depth guys playing above their average. Guys like Jokinen and LaRose are some of their key contributors.

Can we slow down with this "the Wings/Ducks" are playing for the Cup. We still have the Vancouver Luongos to think about. The Wings have a history with hot 'tenders, and he can get hot... quickly.

That's why you should root for Chicago instead.

Need I bring up Quenneville's record against the Wings?

Unfortunately, though, I don't see Chicago winning this series. They were fortunate to win either of their games in the series. Vancouver just sucks at keeping leads for some reason, so they allowed Chicago to steal a few games.

I didn't know the Canucks were guaranteed to make it to the conference finals with a 2-2 series.

I forgot their collapse last game and thought it was 3-1. Still, my point remains valid- we still have the conference finals if we win. Bulin can get hot, too.
