Good job by Cleary and Zetterberg to eat up the last of the period.

The play started out somewhat even, but Anaheim took control as the period wore on.

Lets get back on track in the 2nd, starting with the kill.

Any period we're not losing is a good period. A period we're leading in is a great period. So, this was a good period. We kept them from getting on the board first and thereby stealing the momentum and energy. The longer we keep them quiet, the greater our chance of winning is. We have to keep that in mind.

Pretty good period, I thought. This is pretty much the Ducks at their best. Not the Wings at their best. Just gotta take it up a notch.

Looks more like the ducks playing a tentative "no mistake" game, to me.

The longer it goes on like this, the bolder (and DIRTIER!), they'll become.

Wings need to TAKE CONTROL of this Game!

Let's Go Red Wings!!!!!!!!

I don't know what you guys are complaining about, Flip wasn't moving his feet at all. You are never going to get away with that if you don't move your feet.

It was, a Wing knocked it off.

No, Beauchemin turned around and knocked the net off all by himself. No Wing was even close enough to touch the net.

As usual the Ducks play really good in the 1st period. Getting out of it with 0-0 is pretty good, even though we had some chances.

The Wings are a little sloppy, missing some passes and turning the puck over, but they're solid in the defensive zone.

Looking for the Wings to start taking over the longer the game goes, just have to kill off this penalty at the start of the 2nd.

It seems like the Ducks get away with murder and then they'll make some weak call against us on an iffy play

I've been trying to look at things pretty objectively all series, and for the most part, when it comes to penalties, I've thought its been pretty balanced both ways.

But that series of events just blew my mind. Datsyuk is mauled for a good 30 seconds, and no call. And then RYAN has his stick parallel to the ice - an easy hooking call in today's NHL - and Filppula gets a holding penalty?

That ones over my head, for sure..

I think most of us are complaining how the Ducks are not getting called for anything and then the Wings get these stupid chinchy calls.

Wings have to fight harder through the Neutral Zone. ducks are smothering them at the blue line.

They have to fight harder for it.

Ice looks terrible. It's rather warm here today.

I agree. Big kill coming up.

What time is it in good ole' Sweden?

No way the Wings are allowed to have the same amount or more PPs than the Ducks.

Oh come on, you guys. The officiating has been FINE. It's tedious having to hear this every single game.

I hear what you're saying, but there was really nothing egregious about the way that first period was called.

Agree. Officiating was fine.

I'll be honest, I feel like we've taken their best punch. They're facing elimination at home, I knew the first would be tough, but getting out 0-0 is a win for us. Now just gotta kill this penalty and start to take over from there.

Do you have a DVR? Go back to just before the end of the 1st, and watch Scott Niedermayer ride Z with his stick in the midsection for a good 3 seconds, almost impressive time for bull riding, and no call. That isn't objectively in the slightest. That was right next to the puck, and Z was trying to clear the zone. Should be a penalty just like Beauchemin accidentally (yeah right) knocking the net off all on his own while the Wings are pressuring in the zone.

I scratched my head as well, I thought the Red Wings were on the PP

Speaking of PP's, I F'IN HATE VERSUS. I noticed it right away (the too many men on ice penalty), and they didnt mention it till 20 sec into the penalty....ESPN TAKE US BACK!
