i hope dats is more focused and energized than ever now

I think he will be. Not a good move by Nieds - the Ducks have mannaged to contain and frustrate Dats all series, why anger him and risk waking him up? Dude is a wicked scoring threat when his game is on.

Settle my mind down but I gotta say some:

Neidermayer elbowed Datsyuk but he can say he did not do on purpose. I kept watching the video(thanks for posting) more than 30 times right now but I think this has done on purpose. He could just turn his body around but he just did classless work. The thing is, the league is not gonna suspend Neidermayer. You remember yersterday? That is same. Neidermayer and Pronger have been avoiding suspension for such a long time; in the past, Burke saved them; now, do not know, either Bettman or the league is a garbage.

You guys make me laugh.

This is the NHL.

Nothing is ever consistent.

The league has been blowing the Needawalkers since long before Cindy and his clan arrived, what in gods name would make you think this would ever be looked at?

Will there be any carryover for Game 7? Or are the stakes too high to let the emotions spill over?

Capitals/Penguins Playoff Gear "We'll see," Red Wings forward Dan Cleary said. "I felt that some guys took liberties on certain players that aren't known to fight. So we'll see Thursday. We've got to be aggressive on them. We've got to force them to play good defense. We've got to be physical on Niedermayer, Getzlaf, Perry and these guys. You've got to be hard on them, got to hit them. Take away their time and space.

"Raffy doesn't fight. Pav doesn't fight. So we'll see. Niedermayer doesn't fight either."

I wouldn't mind seeing Downey or DMac coming up just in case.

47.22 Fines and Suspensions – Instigator in Final Five Minutes of Regulation Time (or Anytime in Overtime)

A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five (5) minutes of regulation time or at anytime in overtime, shall automatically be suspended for one game. The Director of Hockey Operations will review every such incident and may rescind the suspension based on a number of criteria. The criteria for the review shall include, but not limited to, the score, previous incidents, etc. The length of suspension will double for each subsequent offense. This suspension shall be served in addition to any other automatic suspensions a player may incur for an accumulation of three or more instigator penalties.

When the one-game suspension is imposed, the Coach shall be fined $10,000 – a fine that will double for each subsequent incident.

No team appeals will be permitted either verbally or in writing regarding the assessment of this automatic suspension.

Let's see how they are going to handle this one.

no suspensions. The league won't suspend impact players in the playoffs. Look at the Scott Walker instance.

First of all I would consider Walker as a impact player... but rules are rules:

Flames' Roy suspended for one game Thursday, 04.23.2009 / 2:25 PM / 2009 Playoffs Conference Quarterfinals NHL.comTORONTO - Calgary Flames' forward Andre Roy has been suspended for one game and fined $2,500 (the maximum allowed under the CBA) as a result of an incident in the pregame warm-up last night when he initiated contact with Chicago Blackhawks' defenseman Aaron Johnson.

Roy's suspension will be served on Saturday night when the Flames meet the Blackhawks in Game Five of the series.

i love how over on the DUcks boards they are praising 'scotty' for his amazing fighting ability and courage. They have the youtube clip posted... funny how not ONE of them has mentioned the ridiculous elbow. Niedermeyer should be thrown out for the playoffs IMO. The fact that the league lets this s*** go is pathetic.

;) there were no instigator penalties in the last 5 minutes of the game (or anywhere in the game, including after the whistle). No instigator = no suspension coming.

I hated the gooning, but saw nothing coming from it, cause the NHL is spineless. But when Neidermeyer throws a ficious and intentional elbow to an unsuspecting Datsyuk after play has finished and its on film and nothing comes from it, the league's handling of the gooning Ducks yet again makes me want to puke.

Viewing the events after the whistle separate from my disappointment in the actual game, this is kind of funny:

Perry jumping a smaller, less fight-experienced Rafalski in his first game back after weeks on the injury list? FAIL.

Neids elbowing Datsyuk in the face, then pushing off Datsyuk's helmet and punching away while keeping his own shield on? FAIL.

Getzlaf mixing it up with Hossa twice? FAIL. (Although out of all of the Wings on the ice at that point, Hossa probably has the most fighting experience...)

At one point didn't somebody even wrap his arms around Lidstrom? Why? To stop him from breaking up other fights? FAIL. And to the claim against Lidstrom's "manhood" and "dedication to his teammates" (which is ridiculous enough in itself), in the second replay I noticed that he immediately skated into the thick of the scrum and started pulling Ducks off of his teammates. That's more than Zetterberg or the 6th Wing on the ice (can't remember who it was) did.

Seriously, the Ducks pumped so much FAIL into that minute after the final horn, it's unbelievable. Do they really think anyone watching this replay of them squaring up against Rafalski, Datsyuk, Hossa, and Lidstrom is going to say, "Wow! That must have taken a lot of toughness and courage! Those smaller, skilled Wings players totally had that coming"? You stay classy, Ahaneim

Oh, but a huge  to Cleary's response. They'll get what's coming to them on Thursday - on the scoreboard at the very least.

Go ahead and watch the video. Slide the bar over to 1:36/1:52.

Whoever thinks that doesn't look like intent to injure and all around pathetic, gutless behaviour is an idiot.

Edit: fixed video link.

Holy s***! TSN (I think that was the feed I ended up watching with Ray Ferraro) failed to show the elbow. This is the first I've seen of it.

I couldn't really see what erupted between Dats and Neidermeyer. I saw in the beginning that Dats wrapped him up during the Getzlaf/Hossa scrum, then the camera went away for a second and when it came back those two were throwing down.

We're lucky the Ducks don't send out their toughest guys to fight us.

We can't even beat up Niedermayer and Perry of all people.

Where are all those brave punches Datsyuk threw at Gary Roberts last year in the Finals when the refs were holding him?

I love how the VS announcers kept saying that the youngsters are showing true leadership by being physical. Seriously? Physical and cheap is bulls***. Falski almost surely had a concussion and Perry was trying to injure and neids should be suspended for sure. Won't happen though. s***ty ass NHL. I thought the one thread with the O6 breaking off and forming a new league was ridiculous, but I am starting to think it is not an awful idea! LMAO

What do you mean we can't even beat up Niedermayer and Perry Ericsson beat the crap out of Perry. Neither of these were real fights Perry jumped a guy 5" and 20 lbs smaller than himself who has been out injured for 2+ weeks and Niedermayer elbows Pav in the head with a sucker punch gets Dats helmet off and then tries to fight him with his helmet and big old shield on - what was Pav supposed to do, keep punching him in the visor and injure one of his hands?
