What Game 7 Means....

I think it's fair to say that the pressure is just about even between these two teams.

Realistically, both teams are going to be playing desperation hockey. The Ducks have pressure because they won the last game and now have to pull out a win at the JLA (which, even though the Ducks have a good road record - the JLA is a really difficult building to win in. Don't know why, it's been that way for years.) Likewise, the Wings have pressure to win at home, in front of their home crowd. And pressure is something the Wings can deal with better than 80% of this league. They're experienced enough to know how to handle it.

No one team has more pressure than the other. For both of us, it's game 7.

you know what, you are 100% accurate in your post, of course there is pressure on both sides, and the cool thing about it is that both the wings and the ducks know how to play in pressure situations...i have no doubt that the winner of this series is going to win the stanley cup just because both the ducks and wings have the best defense in the NHL, and no other team playing right now can have the confidence to say that.

I've been saying since the start of this series, whoever takes this series is a shoe-in for the Stanley Cup.

These are the two best teams in hockey right now. Now, I may not necessarily LIKE the Ducks (and Lord knows I can't stand 'em), but they're a talented team who've challenged the defending Cup champions with everything they've got. Win or lose, this has been one hell of a successful season for them.

I expect a hard-fought game, with the momentum switching back and forth constantly, and a lot of post-whistle scrums. It's going to be a war tonight.

Do you have kids? If so, utilize them in your excuse.

OR you could just say "The Ducks are playing game 7 tonight - elimination game. I need to be there to watch them. You do NOT understand," and see if that works.

...I'd still pimp out the kids, though. :P

Tonight is the most important game since 2002, yes. Being the only other Game 7 we've played since indicates taht. But on top of all that, pride is at stake, and as someone else mentioned, this is Good vs. Evil. Good will prevail.

I remember crying in 1994 when the Wings lost...now that I am a grown man...I don't want to cry like a little kid again tomorrow.

Oh man great comment. I remember the same emotions from when I was young during the crappy seasons when we were the Sharks of the time. I wear my Jersey to work the day after we are finished for the season. Tomorrow is too soon and I do not want to have tears stain my jersey.. :)

While a 2002 style game 7 blow out of epic proportions would be beyond my wildest dreams and I would give up coffee if I could be guaranteed it would happen, I just can't go there now. Just can't. Nobody expected that when it happened with the Avs and as a result it was.... one of the best days ever to be a Wings fan.
