The best "insults" you've heard against the Wings

I don't know about that. I mean she is married to you... :P

But she is right. The Wings have some seriously ugly players.

Also Chelios. I forgot (somehow) Chelios. Ugly dude. Hudler too.

The wife also wanted on Yzerman and Kocur back in the day.

Does it mean I'm *** if my favorite players tend to be the ones my wife says are hot?

She never did dig Grimson though, and I did. Dude looked like the missing link. Ugly. Huge paws on that guy too. HUGE.

Don't assume my wife's taste in men is s*** just because of me - you never made a bad choice when you were young and the drugs were good and free? ;)

Okay here we go. The best attempt at an insult ever came today. I'm calling it an "attempt" rather than an insult because it was just sad.

My brother and boyfriend and I made our annual trip to Cedar Point today. We started the tradition of all of us wearing Wings gear to represent while we were there. Every time we see someone else in Red Wings clothing we high five them, and so on. So getting off one of the rides, we see a pack of Pens fans all wearing Malkin t-shirts and Pens hats, etc. So we started something friendly like "Ready for the rematch?" The Pens fans all replied saying that they would kick our asses if we met in the finals this year. To that reply, we jumped in adding that their best player against us in 2008 is now a Red Wing and therefore we have the upper hand.

One of the Pens fans replied: "Dude. We don't even want Hossa. We just signed him last year for charity."

We didn't even reply to that because we broke out laughing hysterically and some stranger in front of our pack completely unrelated to the conversation turned around and pointed out how stupid that sounded. Charity? That's why Pens fans are still crying and boo him all the time? That's why they wanted him to re-sign soooooo bad? Idiots.

OH MY GOD, YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS.

I was at Cedar Point with my boyfriend today as well.. and I wore a Red Wings t-shirt for part of the day, but had to wear a tank top in the second half of the day because it was too hot. While we were in line for the Maverick, we noticed a group of younger guys (All wearing Pens stuff) near us. Out of nowhere, a bunch of people starting chanting "LET'S GO RED WINGS" and I joined in!

So crazy that you were there!

Might have been the same guys. These guys looked young. They were so dumb. A lot of the ride engineers and game people said "GO BLACKHAWKS" to us while we were in line or walked past them. Game people I booed and thumbs downed. Ride people I smiled nicely because they had my life in their hands obviously. It was a good time.

All I remember were Pens hats, one guy wearing a t-shirt that said MALKIN on the back and one guy wearing a Penguins Eastern Conference Champions t-shirt. They were a couple rows behind us in line and were completely surrounded by Wings fans. I overheard one of them remark "It must be Michigan day," which is when a good group of people erupted in the Wings chant.

Haha, sorry I freaked out about you being there. I just had to point out how ridiculously cool us Wings fans at CP are. :P

Yup Malking tshirt, Eastern Champs tshirt, and a couple pens hats I believe. I remember one other guy with them not wearing anything but I might be remembering wrong. It happened kinda quick. There were a lot of people representing the Wings today. I was so proud. We high fived whoever we could or yelled to them if they were kinda far away. Also (although unrelated) there was one guy with a Blackhawks hat next to us in line for the Mantis but he was boring and wouldn't talk even though we were trying. He looked really scared and wouldn't make eye contact with us even. I also noticed a Hejduk Colorado tshirt in one line, and a Sabres tshirt in line for the Maverick, but they didn't make the playoffs so no big deal to me. One guy asked my brother if Boston won last night lol.

I love it when you meet those Penguin fans when your wearing your Red Wings shirt. I went to Cedar Point last year wearing my Red Wings shirt. It was very funny to see those Penguin fans around there.

I get "insulted" by my friends all the time, especially now during the playoffs.

The biggest thing is (of course) our Swedes. Finnish tend to...well,not like them a lot .

This is one text message I got (free translation, kind of a tough one):

"Franzen is a Swedish momma's boy who looks like a monkey and people feed him raisins. Loving your Swedes now?"

Lol,I do love 'em and I love the fact that they're "my Swedes".

What's up with the Fin/Swede dislike? I have a few good friends in Finland (Helsinki and Punkaharju) and they all kinda loathe Russiand and Swedes. I can see being pissed about the Winter War, but why the anger at the Swedes? Is it because they sat it out while finland was fighting for it's life?

I think it might come from there. Finland was also part of Sweden from 1249 to year 1809,so that might have something to do with it historically.

Not to mention all the times they've beaten us in important hockey games (that counts in a hockey crazy country like ours).

Hell, throw even Abba and Roxette there as reasons.

I think it has to do with the fact that Sweden and Finland are the only good hockey nations in Scandinavia which has started a huge rivalry between the countries.

Im Swedish and the games against Finland are always the most important ones to win :)

(Love my moomin neighours though :P:)

Living in an area far from Detroit, people see Wings gear and assume bandwagon. That's their insult against the Wings- that since they've been winning, they have fans. They assume that if the Wings stop winning that all the fans will turn.

My response is simple. I've been a Lions fan for 42 years. That shuts them right up.

Nobody calls me a bandwagon fan. The sweaters I wear most are Norwood and Gare. :)

*starts singing It's A Small World After All*

Pardon me for butting in here, but what a cue!

It's a world of hockey, a world of cheers,

It's a world where the Wings will bring on your fears,

There's so much they can do, that the Hawks oughta sue,

It's a Wings' world after all.

It's the Wings' world after all -

It's the Wings' world after all -

It's the Wings' world after all -

So drop the puck, let's have a brawl!

I have spent a lot of time this season going through yahoo pages. Mostly to laugh at what some people say to bring down the Red Wings.

-- Pink Wings/ Pink Wing Fans/ Homers

-- Cheddarberg

-- Datsuck

-- Ozsuck

-- "Michelle Babcock"

-- And one guy made his own version of the Gordie Howe hat trick in which the participant performs several "acts" on the referees simultaneously..... and he was such a big boy he listed them in detail.

I replied with "we understand your disgust for {list of whatever he was ranting about} but that has nothing to do with how the Red Wings play. Do you have any comments that for one second would make me think the Wings will lose?"

Didn't see another post the rest of the day.
