WCF GAME 2 GDT: Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Agreed. It was very weird to see Helm out there taking a defensive zone faceoff with Draper at the hash marks.

Speaking of faceoffs, what's the ratio for Red Wings-to-Blackhawks for getting thrown out of the faceoff circle? 12-1?

I'm pretty sure Hank hasn't taken a face off yet in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, some Hawk false starts before Hank puts his stick down not once, not twice, but three times, and all he gets is a stern talking to.

I've noticed they stopped putting in Hank on faceoffs, because, and I'm not joking, he's been pulled out of the faceoff circle by the refs 75% or more of the time since Ducks Game 7.

Ref conspiracy theorist take note.

If Babcock said they were gassed I definitely believe him and the two-day break comes at a perfect time. I'd probably just have an optional skate on Thursday (day off, obviously, on Wednesday) and let the guys recharge since it's the first decent break since the Anaheim series (not counting the two-day gap between each series, especially with all of the travel involved in it).

They looked tired to me, too. I think part of that was Chicago playing with complete desperation, because let's face it, this game was pretty pivotal; if they win, they take home ice advantage and have a ton of momentum. But the Wings were losing battles for pucks along the boards about 80% of the time tonight and fatigue is the only explanation that makes sense. If they could out-battle the Ducks, the Hawks aren't any tougher than that.

I really better never hear another person take a s*** on Chris Osgood. He put this team on his nuts when the playoffs started because he knew he had something to prove to people; that aside from the regular season, he's a damn good goalie. He has basically made sure we're still playing right now because there were a few games where the difference between us and losing came down to his equipment.

SO.WELL.PUT. I will personally NOT listen to that s*** anymore. No way. No how.

 Gawd, Shoulda proofed this puppy before sending it.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm so glad the Datsyuk - Hossa line didn't end up with that 3 on 1 break. They'd still be passing the puck around as we speak. Kills me to say that...

And we can't say all Euros are prone to do that. Ericsson hardly ever messed around with passing tonight. If he had the puck and a shot, he took it. Mebee he could give lessons?

I don't believe fatigue to be the only 'excuse' here. The emotional engagement in this series is absolutely, 100% not there (yet, hopefully). Let's face it, when you're going from an experienced, physical relentless Ducks team that was the last club to bounce you from the postseason to the peach-fuzz gee-wiz look-where-we-are Blackhawks you're going to have a letdown.

The Red Wings' overall talent has carried them to two opening victories in this series. But make no mistake, it's going to take more than just that to earn at least a split in Chicago.

Detroit should not be comforted by the fact they have a 2-0 lead in this series.

Anyone listening to the WXYT post game show?

Jeff Rieger, how would trading Kopecky (free agent to be anyway...) allow us to keep Hossa?? I agree with all the callers, Hudler/Samuelsson (DEPTH) > Hossa.

My poor neighbors, when Sammy put that one in, that was probably the loudest I've ever yelled in my life. The 3 on 1 rush helped with the emotion.

You'd think after 4 Cup runs it wouldn't be as exciting, but I'm finding out that's not the case at all. I want this Cup as much as the other 4.

Guuuuuh... I'm yoinking that.

Rofl np!

Exactly my feelings when I was sitting in my seat at the game. I was thinking the same thing babs was, we were there, but we had no juices. Here's hoping that game supports in game 3's back-breaker against the Hawks. We we can manage to go up by 2 goals into the third, might set off the, "what the hell else can we do?" alarm.

i disagree about game one. after the first ten minutes of that game i thought we carried the play the rest of the way. i thought it was a well played game. not the emotional engagement we had against the ducks, necessarily, but solid. tonight however, even though we won, i think was our worst game of the playoffs. we just looked spent and disinterested. hope we don't develop a pattern...

Babs looked kind of pissed after Sammy scored.

I've seen that look after Wings' goals and I really think he's trying real hard not to smile and look cool and professional instead. Like, "What else did you expect?!"
