Chill out, King Crymson. I also thought we had a good chance of losing the way the 3rd period looked.

That doesn't surprise me, given your penchant for negativity and defensive pessimism.

I don't believe fatigue to be the only 'excuse' here. The emotional engagement in this series is absolutely, 100% not there (yet, hopefully). Let's face it, when you're going from an experienced, physical relentless Ducks team that was the last club to bounce you from the postseason to the peach-fuzz gee-wiz look-where-we-are Blackhawks you're going to have a letdown.

The Red Wings' overall talent has carried them to two opening victories in this series. But make no mistake, it's going to take more than just that to earn at least a split in Chicago.

Detroit should not be comforted by the fact they have a 2-0 lead in this series.

Well put Matt.

Game three is a very, very high priority. The 'Hawks can't be given a sniff of victory. They can't feel like they gained traction through games 1 and 2 to allow them to 'crack' the Wings. The 'Hawks are a very emotionally driven team.... let them win the emotional war and their talent starts showing up big time.

I'll call it now: If Maltby's in for Abdelkader (and not someone else) we will NOT give up a PP goal on Friday night.

Maltby is the cooler!

All I know is that benching Maltby is like charging his batteries and giving him a zap in the ass with a cattle prod. He always comes out fired up and looking to prove his s*** the next game.

Umm... still wondering why Sammy was on the PK when he gave up the clear on that first goal. I don't think I can count on one hand how many times I've seen Sammy on the PK.

It was a 5-on-3 and he was the man out of the box. He had to get back into the play as fast as possible to nullify the two man advantage.

Didn't he screw up on the pk last game too? Whatever, his goal scoring has been clutch lately so I won't complain!

Anyone else hear the stat that this 11th concecutive playoff game giving up at least one pp goal against set a team record and is the longest such streak in ~20 years?

Good catch. Totally missed that one. Watching the game after coming back from the game (go figure).

Question

Did anyone else get a little freaked out when they showed Scotty Bowman watching... analyzing... calculating...?

No, not at all. Scotty is doing his job, our job is to counter anything he might pass on as suggestions to Quenneville and his coaches.

If we play poorly, we can't blame Scotty Bowman. The onus is on us to offset whatever influence he might have, not reinforce it.

We outplay the opposition about 90% of the time and we still lose while playing some awesome hockey it is about time we won a game that we were outplayed, mainly because of Ozzie and that OT goal i creamed myself.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was at the game it was awesome! My first playoff game!!! My friends and i started some of the random ozzie chants was cool! That fire that comes out for the game intro you can feel the heat on your face lol. Lots of blackhawks fans there and sadly a ton of empty seats. But this was an awesome game and the playoff atmosphere was insane!

I meant to post this last night but the wife was using the PC for work so I couldn't get on it. The JuJu was strong last night - sat in the workshop with the radio on, when "Don't Stop Believing" was followed by a Pink Floyd song (one I've never heard of, but a Pink Floyd song nevertheless) I thought of you and was entirely confident of a game 3 win :)

Sammy = Clutch

Ozzie, I'm sorry I doubted you during the season (but you were playing like crap)

Great game, FINALLLLLY we get a solid OT win. Feels great.

It's funny how Sammy would have been the goat if we lost, but now that we won he's a hero. Great little passing play on the game winner.

Ozzy was rock solid. Not a perfect game for us but that's the best part about it. Despite not playing our best game, we still won.

Even though these have been kind of close games, especially Game 2, I still don't really feel threatened by the Blackhawks. Ozzie's been shutting them down and I don't get that nasty feeling (like I did sometimes against the Ducks) that we can't score on them. I think we can score whenever we need a goal.

I just got home from the game....

Excellent game, it had its moments. Ref's def favored the Hawks tonight as there should of been a few calls.

the wings got away with a lot in the 3rd - they stopped skating and should have been shorthanded several times.

Ozzie was spectacular last night. This was the first game he was practically solely responsible for the win.

I hope the extra day off and Babs kicking their asses a little bit helps bring a better effort, because the Wings looked pretty lethargic most of the game. The beauty here though, if the Wings looked that sluggish, the HDH again didn't score a goal and still found a way to win...what message does that send to the Blackhawks if they decide to "play" Friday night? Here's hoping.

Sammy had plenty of opportunities to get that game winner earlier, but great job there!

Jesus. :nonono:

I am shocked Ozzie wasn't one of the three stars tonight.

QFT

I wondered if he was gonna get shafted with the third star due to Toews' 2 goals and Sammy's game winner, but the fact that he's not even one of the three is ridiculous. Ozzie stole the game last night for the Wings.
