Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Between all of the appreciation threads going up, I can't believe that nobody brought up Brad Stuart. This guy has really stepped up in these playoffs; he has matured as a player quite a bit. He played the role of our top D-man yesterday, and he did a great job of it on all counts. Thumbs up to Brad. Mike 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) And people still want him traded. I thought he stepped it up big time yesterday in the absence of Lidstrom and played his strongest game of the playoffs. Stuart has a knack for picking off those passes through the crease on the PK and sending them down ice. Plus the hit on Havlat was awesome. Coffey77 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Brad Stuart killed us last year. He is just so damn solid defensively. Does he ever make mistakes?
Mike 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Brad Stuart killed us last year. He is just so damn solid defensively. Does he ever make mistakes? During the regular season people wanted him traded because they thought he was playing so bad. Based on that, half of this team should have been traded. That's why fans don't run teams. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 stuart's best moment last game Stuart and Kronwall are such an awesome d-pair (in the playoffs). "hey, I knocked him out in the last game, it's your turn tonight!" "well, ok then.."
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Been strong all playoffs, +8 logging 20+ minutes a night. His hits have been great as well, I just wish he'd let that slapshot go a bit more, I love seeing Stewie score goals
tdinc 45 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Stuart is the quiet hero of the defensive core. Does his job and does it right.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Stuart and Kronwall are such an awesome d-pair (in the playoffs). "hey, I knocked him out in the last game, it's your turn tonight!" "well, ok then.." I thought it was a great testament to his support of Kronwall. All this crap from the the Blackhawks and the media making it seem like they're singling Kronwall out, and Stuart comes in and pretty much says, "Anything you plan on doing to him, you better plan on doing to me, too." Zion 93 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Stuart is lazy and he sucks. Trade him for McCabe, already.
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 I agree he's been one of our most valuable players this post-season. He is also quite good offensively even though he hasn't produced much he has some good hands and gets in the zone often and creates chances.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 We could make an appreciation thread for 75% of the players. The entire team is doing a great job overall.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Stuart has been superbly solid this postseason. I don't take back any of my thoughts about him in the regular season, though; his positional play was sloppy and he wasn't playing nearly as well as he is now. I'm just glad he turned it on for the playoffs.

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 He has been playing very well in these playoffs and I'm very happy he has stepped it up in these playoffs, with that said though, he does need to work on his PK vision. I know he did a great job last night intercepting that pass, but I've still seen quite a few times this post-season where a player behind the net will center a pass and it'll go right through the legs of Stuart or he just won't pick up his man. His physical presence has been the best so far. After he nearly killed the Blue jacket, he helped end Havlat's streak of being knocked out of two straight games. Maybe Big Rig can make it 3? elriqo28 2 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 That's why fans don't run teams. The absolute understatement of the century. Everyone read this post, and stop pretending you know more than Holland or Babcock! Well put!

David 2 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) In a grander scheme sense, how about Ken Holland picking up just Stuart in the last couple trade deadlines? That deal has been essential to strengthening the defensive depth. Without picking up Stuart last year, yesterday's D would've relied very heavily on Lebda and Chelios instead of Stuart, Kronwall, Raf, and E. Not to mention, the D in the last two playoffs would rely more heavily on Lebda and he doesn't bring many of the things that Stuart does.
