Biggest shock of the draft so far!

Islanders should have waited till their pick 16th overall (that they traded for) to pick De Haan because he would have been available then too. They threw away their other picks (3rd plus a late rounder) to move up four spots. Dumb move. I thought they were going to pick Kulikov. Islanders.....

Actually most of the Finns living in Sweden these days went there looking for job in the 50s and 60s. Finns don't flee from wars.

Haha. Yeah, the Nazis didn't scare a single Finn. Not one. I mean they just rolled through Europe stealing and murdering those who they didn't agree with politically or ethnically, but all those Finns were like "f*** it, I'm not afraid of the Nazis even if I am Jewish, because I'm too tough to flee from a war."

Snow looked brilliant until he picked a 20+ guy with his 4 spot move up.

Didn't suspect as much. They sound nothing alike.

they do in one respect: most outsiders have no f* clue what those people are

talking about. except that it's fast, has abundance of similar sounds

(especially Finnish) and is plain impossible to repeat properly.

I just read in Polish wikipedia that the similarity between Finish and Hungarian

is estimated to be similar to relation between Polish and German, which are

two totally different languages. well... you get the picture... it's like Jackie Chan

being similar to Shaq O'Neil... :)

Sure, even the old grandmas fought in the trenches, but Finns sent thousands of children to Sweden during WW2.

Finns fought with the nazis against the Russians. Only later when the nazis wouldn't leave their country Finns had to fight them too.

Hmm... Fleeing from wars. Franzen fleeing from scrums. Apple doesn't fall far does it?

Actually it's only Franzen and Sammy that frustrate me. I like the way Nick and Z handle themselves. For the most part they just tie up a guy as much as they can until they calm down. And now they got Big E who anything he hits, he destroys.

Bleh... I like the draft and all but the excitement I anticipate when the Wings pick is huge and I can't wait for it. It's a little bit of a grind having to watch these other teams pick before mine. Oh well, that's the price you pay for being a fan of a successful team.

I know I know, but I was trying to make a point here . Plus, let's be honest- that was a pretty tense partnership, I'm sure more than a couple of Jewish Fins disappeared early on.

Yeah, my paternal grandfather was one of the movers. :) I'm actually reading The Unknown Soldier at the moment, they seem pretty hardcore.

Well, Kassian is gone (not that I had my hopes up), so now I'm not sure who to pull for.

The Finnish Jiri Hudler for a future Rajala-Filppula-Leino line! No, not really, but it'd be awesome in a NHL Xbox sort of way.

It's difficult to follow this as only a professional scouts know enough of these players to have an unbiased opinion on who should be drafted. I don't have any favourites on these kids so the names just come and go. I'm interested in what happens to Rajala though.

Hehe, that's funny. I didn't know that foreign people are interested in reading it. It was the first book I ever read. I was about 7 years old.

Thats why they are the islanders.....

Dont toss away a third rounder in this deep draft...

To anyone watching the Draft on whatever tv station, I'm watching the TSN feed via my computer...if anyone of you are watching a different station, has anyone spoken about the Wings at all? I havent heard anything on tsn, but I have missed a couple mins here and their. Any feedback is appreciated. TIA

It's true. Hopefully Tavaras can change their horrible management along with their goal scoring ability.

Wings should resign Hudler, draft Rajala and get Gionta from Devils: "The midget line".

Come on Wings- take Rajala!

Come on Rajala- grow 5 inches in the next 3 years (but only if the Wings pick you, otherwise lose 5 inches).

His doc said he grows to just under 5'11, they checked out how much growth he had left inhis bones. Hes listed as 5'10 now but everyone says thats garbage. Hes only 163 pounds now.

Speaking of players putting on weight, its too bad the wings dont hire mackie shilstone(might have spelled it wrong). Hes like one of the worlds best at bulking athletes up without slowing them down too much. We have a bunch of smaller skilled players. It would be great to see Huds, Mursak, Flip, Lieno, all put on 15 pounds of muscle, and start holding their own, or pushing people around LOL(not quite).

Rajala please.

Rajala!

He's got 3 freaking A's in his first name! As a Canadian I'm proud of anyone who flaunts the letter A.

No idea who that is, but send a letter to the Wings and maybe they'll listen! Seriously, it couldn't hurt.
