via Sportsnet,

The Toronto Maple Leafs have brought in another defenceman, signing free agent Francois Beauchemin to a three-year deal believed to be in the range of $10 million.

Watch him turn TO into a western conference like team, defense and goaltending, then take the east in a year or two!

Say what you want about the man he knows how to do two things:

(1)Build winning hockey teams on contracts that expire the year after he leaves (2) Destroying the team!

This is kinda like letting the special kid have his toys. C'mon...they kinda need him. We all feel a certain pity for Toronto don't we? I mean, after being bad for a long time, they went and got an idiot coach and a clusterf*** GM to really ruin things further.

Except for Finger and his $3.5 million per for the next 3 years. What a waste.

Yeah, now that they've brought in Komisarek, Exelby and Beauchemin in, they should just waive Finger. Phil Oreskovic (Marlies) brings the same things but for 3 million dollars less.

Kaberle-Beauchemin

Exelby-Komisarek

Kaberle will apparently be traded for a young, high-end forward.

That leaves...

Schenn - Komisarek <-- Probably the meanest pairing in hockey. Won't be fun to play against them.

Beauchemin - White <-- Nice blend of toughness and offensive ability

Exelby - Van Ryn/Stralman <-- Same thing, but on a lesser scale as far as offense goes. Stralman fits in for the 65 games that Van Ryn is hurt.

Finger can block shots for the Marlies for all I care.

Ian White can be moved up to forward, if need be, but he's a good defenceman.

The forwards will be young, so not a lot of goals, but at least they'll be hard to play against for a change.

Kaberle, Beauchemin, Komisarik, Finger, Schenn, Van Ryn, Frogren, White, Exelby

Somethin's gotta give

They've been toying with dealing Kaberle.

Ian White needs to stay. Affordable salary and great defensive dman who can move the puck.

Van Ryn and Exelby may not see ice or get traded. Exelby was a pawn in the Kubina salary dump.

Finger should be waived.

? Exelby was the main part of that deal apart from shedding salary. He wont be moved. The only d-man over then Kaberle that's leaving TO is like you said, Finger.
