GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 Guys, Lilja is like King Leonidas in the film 300. He will go down fighting if he has too. He'll be back for vengeance next time we play the Preds.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 Franzen is the biggest ***** in the NHL. He will never fight. Franzen has fought in the nhl before. He got his ass whooped.
ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Franzen has fought in the nhl before. He got his ass whooped. Here is one where Johan got for 5 for "fighting." I guess you can throw out the "our powerplay is our enforcer" bit on this one since he sat in the box as long as Walker. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" /> edit: On topic, bummer for Lil's, hopefully he gets better soon. I guess you can throw out the "our powerplay is our enforcer" bit on this one since he sat in the box as long as Walker. Notice that this year he's going to get revenge on Walker. That "fight" was all part of noted Power Forward Franzen's plan.

Guest mindfly Report post Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) I really hope Lilja will be able to play... but if he would be able to play how are they gonna do with the cap, with lilja not on IR the wings are over the cap now that they signed bertuzzi and put meech on waiver isnt enough to clear? Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Kronwall Lilja-Ericsson Looks so much better than Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Kronwall Lebda-Ericsson Edited August 24, 2009 by mindfly

Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 yup,he's a man,he'll continue to put up his couple figting majors per year. Excellent! You've deduced he's not a woman. I'm proud of you. However, I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. He's still having headaches every day. I don't want him on the ice. If he's not been cleared by a board of doctors and the team's own medical staff, he has no business playing a single game until such a time happens. He shouldn't endanger his own health and career just so a bunch of fans on a message board can finally say their team is "gritty".

Sorry GMR. Banned for fighting? Is he talking about being banned from the Swedish league because he got into a fight there once? Last I checked the NHL still allowed fights. Doctors always say that stuff to players with concussions. A doctor isn't going to say, "Sure go ahead and fight. It's good for you and for your head in general". I mean, when is it good for your health to fight and get punched in the head, whether you've had a concussion or not? Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 he's a hockey player dude, like GMR said,he'll b back with a vengaence. I'm sure he will be back. Just not any time in the next year and a half (by my guesstimate), unless you want us to be suiting up Eric Lindros v. 2.0 every night. Tons of talent, took too many shots to the head, turned into a turnip. We don't need that. And just a FYI....I'm not a dude.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 My point exactly, the doctors wont stop him from fighting If he disobeys doctors' orders (who BTW are smarter than he is) and gets into a fight, he's dumber than a box of rocks and he deserves whatever happens to him after that. And before you ask, no I'm not kidding. If he's cleared to play but told to stay out of fights and he does it anyway......that's a level of stupid not yet quantified by man. Who thinks it's smart to disobey a doctor's orders when your damn life could be at risk if you do? If Lilja has more than a teaspoon of brains in his head, he'll listen to his doctors and not the fans.

I don't disagree that players have done it in the past, often times to their own detriment. I'm saying I don't want Lilja to do it, because he's very talented and very useful to us. If he keeps himself out of fights (which are different than checking and leveling some hits), he is infinitely more useful than if he starts looking to drop the gloves and finds himself out of hockey for good this time. There is nothing more frustrating than wasted talent.

Guest micah Report post Posted August 25, 2009 Have Doctors ever told someone to resume letting 230lb men punch them in the head? I'm pretty sure if you saw your Doc for a really bad hangnail, he'd still advise you not to get into fights. Doctors would probably tell Huds to avoid prostitutes, and tell Franzen to get a yearly pelvic exam. Doesn't mean they're gonna listen.
