Bertuzzi feeling good

So you would rather have a team that lies down and doesn't defend itself and scores goals then one that can beat other teams up and beat them on the scoreboard? Thats one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Not really, he's just saying (I'm assuming) that fighting has it's place in the game but is not as important versus winning in the grand scheme of things. If the Wings won by fighting 50 times a game, great, more power to them as winning is the most important thing. But the Wings don't win by winning (EDIT - meant to say fighting, thanks 'thedisappearer') 50 times a game. And you don't have to explain to me all the lines and commentary on toughness and fighting and standing up for people, it's been said 5402342 times in here and I get it.

That's more or less what we had the last two seasons (barring an aged Dallas Drake and a woefully ineffective Darren McCarty) and we were one goal away from getting back to back cups. Sorry, there's historical evidence proving you wrong here - whine about it all you want, we don't need tough guys (not that Bertuzzi's poor defensive play or vulnerability to taking stupid penalties should be interpreted as toughness anyway) to be a successful team. Perhaps you're best off supporting the Ducks - I'm sure their fighting majors more than makes up for that stellar postseason play the franchise is famed for

Until fights won count as goals, I'll take class any day. Unless you WANT Lidstrom and Datsyuk gone...

Fights have as little to do with scoring goals as class does.

Just because Datsyuk is a classy player and scores goals, doesn't mean that they are related.

Probert led the Wings in scoring one year (tied with Klima).

Not exactly. He never led the team in scoring during the season. He did set the franchise playoff scoring record with 21 points in 1988 (his famous 60 points-400 PIM campaign), which stood until Steve surpassed it a decade later.

I was thinking of 87-88 regular season (same year), where he and Klima both got 62 points, but Klima had more goals. I don't know why I said that he had the most on the team though - Gallant and that one guy called Yzerman were ahead of him. Must have conflated playoffs and regular season. But my original point still stands...

Exactley. There are plenty of players out there that have no class and could put the puck in the net. I'm getting so tired of people over using the "c" word.

Bertuzzi knows he has a great opportunity here in Detroit to prove himself. It may have looked like a bad offseason, but with the arrivals of Bertuzzi, Williams, and Eaves, and Helm at full-time, Detroit just got a little more North American.
