Hudler

I mean the Czech Hockey Games (and all the other Euro Hockey Tour games) are pretty meaningless and you can't really make any conclusions based on them. The fact is that there are mostly these guys playing who are there just for the experience. I bet there is not a single same player in Team Finland in EHT and Team Finland in Vancouver.

ps. Finland beat Sweden 8-3; Marko Anttila (height 6.60) - my favourite player of my favourite team - scored two.

Hudler is an excellent player that will probably continue to put up great numbers over there because he isn't on a team with as much skill across the board. This is his time to shine. His leaving came down to nothing more than a financial decision. Plain and simple. If your job paid you $20 an hour and someone came up to you and said I'll give you $40-50 an hour to do the same thing, most of us would agree that to not take it would be stupid. There are no hard feelings on the Wings side and they will wait for his return. Holland has made this very clear. He is still a Red Wing. Gosh, you go to Game 7 of the finals and the bickering begins. 28 other teams would be more than happy to trade places with us.

Heres me not giving a s***:

Sup.

Ha HA Obviously you did or you would not of taken the time to post!!

I am glad for him. he's showing what he can do. and getting paid to do it,

Like a member stated above me, he is getting more money to be the player

he can be! hope he comes back to the Wings in a couple years and produces like that

then again...this could be just a lucky streak for the guy.. Who knows?

Ask Hossa. He got paid 7 times more than Hudler did to score. Hudler scored in the top 6 for a million bucks and did so while playing on the fourth line-- well above what he was being paid to do. Hossa did jack s*** in the finals even though he was given 18 minutes a game and always played on the top two lines, all in addition to being paid to be "that guy".

Keep bagging on the supplemental players, though, if you really like making pointless accusations.

Thank you, My sentiments exactly....

Reading a post (named "Hudler"), and in turn making fun of you for making it, does not mean they cared about Hudler.

I know I came in here wondering why people still cared for a player who didn't get minutes, didn't produce, was shipped off cause we couldn't afford him/he wanted money, and was too small to begin with.

I'm sorry if you ladies thought he was cute, but he's gone now, and I'm betting he won't be back.

Very well. Elaborate.

The wings offered Hudler like 3 million IIRC (maybe even 3.5). After taxes he'll get about 2-2.5 million. Whether he stayed here or went to russia. he is going to be getting a HUGE paycheck. Working full time, 20$/hr isn't that much above the poverty level after taxes. Twice 20$/hr means a lot more than twice a multi-million dollar paycheck. Also factor in that the KHL is vastly subpar to the NHL. He's getting more, but he's in a worse league.

People cared for Hudler because he was a member of the Red Wings, and some still do care for him or wish him the best in Moscow. And he did produce fairly well given his salary and time. Wasn't a world beater but produced decent the past two seasons overall.

well that was full contact hockey with full sized men, this game was played.... "over there"

Wings would not win game 5 in Pittsburgh in 08 without Hudler. He did s*** in 09, yeah, but so did Datsyuk. So I guess Dats is soft and s***ty player too?

^ lol.

But I'm guessing he meant game 4. Even so, there is no reason to say we would have lost if Hudler hadn't scored that goal. And, that goal was his only point in that series.

Yeah, game 4 it is :D

Anyways, I am not huge Hulder fan, but just because he left does not mean he did not a s*** for the Wings, I think he earned his money.

Found this On yahoo .. Good for Huds!!

KARLOVY VARY, Czech Republic (AP)—Jiri Hudler(notes) scored three goals as the Czech Republic edged Russia 3-2 after a penalty shootout Sunday to win the Czech Hockey Games.

Yahoo Link

seems this part of the quote was left out: "also failed to throw a body check, lost numerus battles in the corner and a few more in front of the net..."

Dear Jiri. so glad you left, can you please stay in Russia forever? Thanks...

Your logic is flawed, but whatever floats your boat. No taxation is a huge part of the overall dollar value. I think almost all pro sports players a spoiled brats that make way too much money, but that doesn't mean I don't see the overall value of the decision made by Hudler or any other player for that matter. It is a job at the end of the day, plain and simple. No one would work if they didn't get paid. I won't clean toilets or dig ditches for $100, but for $1,000 my tune may change. KHL, NHL, whatever as long as the checks are made out to Jiri Hudler. He will be back.

Yeah and now we have Jason Williams to not do the things you listed and he is nowhere near the offensive talent Hudler is.

Hudler wasn't great at the stuff you mentioned, but he had many other attributes that more than made up for it. His size doesn't really allow him to scrap in the corners or throw a body check. Would you ask Tomas Holmstrom to backcheck hard or kill penalties? Hudler is a quality NHL offensive player and the Red Wings aren't getting that back in Williams, Bertuzzi or Eaves.

The soft Russians didn't seem to have much trouble scoring on the tough Canadians at the World Championships though :scared:
