kidish 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 This will be awesome...after ******* November. Stupid injury. Here's a blurb from TSN: Although it's not completed, sources say the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are putting the finishing touches on a trade that will deliver Phil Kessel to the Leafs. Toronto is awaiting the final call to confirm the deal while the Bruins are believed to be wrapping up all internal discussions before signing off.
Guest micah Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Day-um! The Leafs are gonna be fun to watch this year! ...as are the Flyers, Caps, Ducks, Bruins....it's a great time to be a hockey fan!
kidish 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Day-um! The Leafs are gonna be fun to watch this year! ...as are the Flyers, Caps, Ducks, Bruins....it's a great time to be a hockey fan! Ducks, Flyers, Leafs = league leaders in fights. Of the three, I actually think Toronto will have the most fighting majors assessed all season.

Guest micah Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Ducks, Flyers, Leafs = league leaders in fights. Of the three, I actually think Toronto will have the most fighting majors assessed all season. Leaders in fights AND all decent hockey teams. Toughness alone isn't much fun to watch, skill alone isn't much fun to watch. For the past few years, only the Ducks have been skilled and tough, now that trend is catching on elsewhere. It's a great time to be a fan, the product is improving. RusDRW 155 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Early indications are that the Leafs will send two first round picks and a 2nd round pick to Boston. that's exactly what Burke is always doing. Drain the draft picks pool and leave for "another franchise to save". Having nothing against Toronto I would say you'll be successful during the next two-three years and then.... Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Early indications are that the Leafs will send two first round picks and a 2nd round pick to Boston. I think anyone following Burke for the last several years could have told you that.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) At least this saves the Leafs from giving up kids they already have like Tlusty, Kadri, Schenn, Bozak, Hanson, Kulemin, Stalberg, Gustavsson... Don't like giving up draft picks, but the Leafs picked up some decent kids via the NCAA free agent route this spring to kind of offset the giving up of draft picks. Plus with the glut on the blueline, they will likely add a pick or two before all is said and done. Edited September 18, 2009 by MacK_Attack

T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted September 19, 2009 Nice move for the Leafs immediate future... This makes my season predictions harder I think they'll be a bubble playoff team now but could jump into a spot depending on how the rest of the offense performs... The Mule 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2009 Great trade for both teams. If it weren't for the Red Wings, I'd be a Toronto fan (hometown pride), so this excites me.
shoe 165 Report post Posted September 19, 2009 So Boston didnt want to sign the guy, he didnt want to play for Boston and they got 2 first rounders for him and a 2nd rather than have him sit at home and get nothing? Not bad. I sure hope for the leafs sake he pans out and dosnt turn into one of those guys that did well on another team but when he joined the leafs turned into a ghost. So much for Burke building the team through the draft, I will say this hes turned it around real fast, I think the leafs need a playoff bound team they are way over due, been too long. MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 19, 2009 Good quick fix I guess.... gotta think Boston wins this trade though It will take many years to find out. 2010 draft is not a very strong field, but the 2011 field is supposed to be one of the weakest ever. Wait... wasn't Kessel only asking for like $3.5m-$4m from the Bruins? I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Brian Burke on what a wonderful GM he is, and how excellent he is at managing his team's cap space and being sure not to overspend on players. Eh, $5M is pretty standard fare for a 30+ goal scorer.

Guest micah Report post Posted September 19, 2009 As will the Wings, although Kamelot is not that fun of a band to listen to The Wings will be a great team this year and they will win tons of games and maybe even the Cup - but their product will not be as fun to watch as some of the more, err, aggressive teams are. I like to watch teams skate pretty and score goals, but I'd rather watch teams skate pretty and score goals and beat the tar out of eachother. Also, Kamelot is awesome. Awesome awesome awesome awesome. Neo-prog rock is awesome. Chicks dig Kamelot. They're so cool, they intentionally spell their name wrong, just like my other favorite bands, Kix, Kris Kross, and Sleez Beez. I follow Kamelot on tour. It's alot like following Phish on tour, but the fans smell 20% better and carry pocket calculators instead of gravity bongs.
