Can someone give me the info on the quincey story? How did lebda beat him out for that 6th dman spot? Seems like this was hollands only mistake in recent years.

I think it's because Quincey had a two-way contract. Lebda wasn't able to be sent down the the griffins at that point in the season. I think Holland was planning on putting Quincey on waivers then sending him to GR for a bit. But obviously the Kings decided to pick him up instead. I THINK that's how it went. But I could be wrong. Maybe Holland did f*** up big time in this case.

A team can only hold on to players for so long... Detroit has been lucky...

A two-way contract had nothing to do with it. He was just more prepared to lose Quincey than Lebda.

So at that point in the season Holland could have sent Lebda to the griffins??? Because that was one part I was pretty sure about. Certain players depending on their contract can't be sent down to the AHL after a certain amount of games into the season. At least that what I thought.

I think you're getting confused waiver exemption.

The thing about Quincey being waived was that both him and Meech could not be sent down to GR without being put on waivers first. One had to go. Meech has the ability to play both offense and defense. Which Q cannot do. I think kenny tried to trade Q, but there were no takers. He was put on waivers and picked up by LA.

For the record, Quincey would not be the player he is today if he was still stuck in the Red Wings system. I just wish we could of gotten something for him.

Meech also can't play defence.

Everyone needs to wake up and realise we absolutely stuffed up by waiving Quincey, he was a beast tonight.

Understand that Q is playing top 4 minutes in colorado. He is not better than Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall or Stuart. I would throw in Ericsson as well.

At the time, waiving Q was the best option.

I'm not saying Quincey sucks or anything. But you need to settle down and realise he would not have gotten the chance to shine in Detroit like he has elsewhere and therefore, it's almost certain we wouldn't be discussing this "beast" that is Kyle Quincey.

I liked how the crowd sung the national anthem at the Habs-Leafs game. Detroit should let the crowd sing the U.S. anthem one night.
