It's unfortunate, but I am surprised people are so taken back by Howard's under par goaltending. The guy is not an NHL'er, never will be either. You saw it every chance he's had in the past to play with the big boys, and we will continue to see it for however long he is in a Wings uniform and playing.

He is not good enough to play in the NHL - flat out. It's just weird that people were expecting more from the guy then what they are seeing today. Get used to it, this isn't a "bad game" for him, this is what we will get whenever he plays.

This is just one game guys. Howard looked fine for a while too. Those two soft goals are something we've seen Ozzy let in too and he turned out alright. Let's not overreact.

I would, however, like to see more Larsson. You can bet that as soon as one goalie gets hurt Larsson will get a long, long look. It seems that Babs thinks Larsson is good enough, based on comments he made in camp.

Exactly. I think we'll see a bit more of him for the next few weeks but I'm hoping Holland is looking for a better backup. The bad thing is, I don't know what Holland could get for Howard and Lebda.

I'm not a mindfly, but can you really say he looked fine? Is it a coincidence that he looked fine only during the time when Detroit was dominating and not giving St. Louis any decent shots?

I do not think Larsson is necessarily looking better than Howard. What I have seen through the game is before the game is tied in 2-2, Howard played pretty well. But suddenly defenses collide down, the rookie goalie automatically got killed. I hope this is only one game but this is almost the same start as last season. Allowing 4 or 5 goals and need numerous goals to win one game

We do, actually. We need someone who can go out there in the third, hit everything that moves and get in the middle of stuff to create some energy. Something Detroit is lacking.

Cause Helm never did that. Abdelkader never did that. Cleary never did that.
