If this means they'll have no butts left when they're done, I'm all for it!

yup get out there, stretch, put 60 mins on the clock (count down) have Babs blow the whistle and tell them to get on the goal line...

(a junior coach of mine did this after we WON a game even though we blew a 4 goal lead in the 3rd before scoring in OT)

At first I thought it was the opposition... St. Louis looks better this year, Buffalo is on track. But it is evident this team is going to struggle this year. Our offense is now average and our defense, goaltending and PK are below average right now.

Think Coach Herb Brooks in Disney's "Miracle" and you'll get the idea. If you haven't seen this scene at least, you should. I friggin hate Disney, but I still loved this movie... maybe because I remember being 8 and watching it on TV with my dad. It is the very reason I am a hockey fan today. Thank you, Al Michaels and ABC Olympic coverage.

Jeff

I don't see s***tspurgh having any playoff hangover.

You're insane. Lost to the Islanders. Got SHUTOUT by the Coyotes. Looked very shaky early but got it together enough to beat the Flyers, then played two of the worst teams in the league in TOR and OTT.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Without Hossa, Hudler, and Franzen, we have taken a big offensive hit. Id say our defence is average though, not below average.

And here I thought I had a right to be pissed because it was a game on Canadian TV and I had excitement built up to see it on the big screen (not my laptop) and to watch it with my girlfriend. But I didn't pay money... so yeah, you definitely have a right to feel cheated in my eyes.

On the plus side you can say you've witnessed the worlds worst penalty shot.

We didn't show up and the Sabres thought this would be a game to challenge themselves and see where they stand, im embarrassed the Wings couldn't even do that. There was no effort at all tonight, 82 games in a season there will be nights off. Im glad we took the night off against a team i don't hate.

Happens to every team we will bounce back, lines are still shuffling.

GO WINGS!!

This!

Also I'd like to say I thought Howard had a great night all things considered. 1 goal on 15 shots is pretty good given the situation he walked in to. Hopefully he'll keep it up.

Positives:

+ Flip hit the scoresheet again. All hail the mighty Flip.

+ 1 GA on 15 shots for Howie is pretty damn good -- .933 SV%

+ Helm returned. We lost, but having Helm back can only mean good things.

+ Loss is a loss, but at least it was to an Eastern Conference opponent.

Flip has looked really good so far. I don't know if he bulked up, but he's playing like a bigger man than last season. He just needs to shoot more and figure out the timing a little better to get those shots off.

Flip is noticeably bigger this year, is playing harder, and is really gunning for a top 6 spot full-time.

He is probably the only Wing so far who has been consistently money for us. Though today nobody was without mistakes.

Lebda didn't make a mistake tonight.

Seriously, I hope the Wings take all their anger and sexual frustrations out on the L.A. Kings Thursday night. I want to see some huge blowout. You know, like the one tonight, except vice versa.

Too bad the Kings are playing some of the best hockey in the league right now.

Too bad they're still the LA Kings. ;)

Hahaha. I suppose that's true to an extent, but I'm not entirely convinced they're a pushover this season. The Kings have some amazing young talent on the back end, and Anze Kopitar is playing out of his mind right now. If the Kings could ever get steady goaltending for an entire season, they'd have no trouble finding their way into the playoffs.
