For all of the Sammy haters out there

This is a great topic. Ever since seasons have been cut to 7 games, we get a much better view of a player's production and value.

For instance, we can infer that Vincent Lecavalier will not score a single goal this year, as through 7 games, he has none.

Mikael Samuelsson is a reserve player doing well on a struggling team.

and zetterberg will finish the season with 11 goals...but 82 pts

dats will have an astonishing 32 assists and 0 goals as well.

good thing seasons are 82 games, or there would be no parody or excitement.

as for sammy, he played his part and scored some clutch goals. not a superstar by any stretch, but he was better than a handful of guys on the current wings roster...

With tonight's goal (his 4th), Samuelsson is now the Canucks leading goal scorer, and has 7 points in almost 7 games (as i'm writing this, the game is still on), and has a point in every game except one. With the Red Wings struggling to find consistency right now, we certainly could have stood to gain from the nightly production that Sammy is putting up in Vancouver. Maybe now some of you haters who were so glad to see him go should be reconsidering that feeling.

Thats great for Sammy hey I liked they guy good skater could find the net but he was not the most physical player on the ice and had a tendency to lose the puck at the blue line good luck Sammy and hold that puck at the blue line

Vancouver was trailing Chicago 2-1 tonight with about 12-15 minutes left in the third and Toews gets laid out. After that, Vancouver comes back and ties it at 2 and then Samuelsson scores the go-ahead goal with about 4 minutes left in the game.

I'm sorry, but especially with the way Williams is playing, Holland made the right move.

Sammy only has 2 more points than Williams, Williams is 1000x better defensively and a DRASTIC improvement on the PP point and costs a HELL of a lot less

Williams>Samulesson

Hell, I'd go as far as to say that I'd take Williams over Samuelsson for the same price tag and I think it will stay that way - and you can quote me on that at year's end too.

There was a reason they got rid of Willy in the first place - sorry not a fan. I know he was the cheapest and *only* thing available, but I would much rather have Sammy back. Bigger guy, reliable depth player, seemed to have timely goals in the POs. Did come with faults for sure, but I could overlook them.

Willy is looking OK now (because the rest of the team is sucking). For the Wings sake I hope he works out. You have to figure he's had ALOT of extra time off these past few years than the rest of the Wings though. ;)

Looking OK? He looks like one of the only competent skaters out there when the entire team is sucking. His line with Fil and Leino are the only guys that look like they're putting for the effort in all seven games thus far.

If I had to compare the two and judge Williams in just seven games, I'd take him over Sammy. He runs point on the PP much better, he's been good with Fil and Leino, and I've at least not noticed any glaring defensive mistakes.

He's also had the chance to be clutch, though he couldn't really help that no one else made their shoot out goals; he made his, though.

For all sammy bashers, do you think a NON STREAKY player would get payed like 1-2 mil which he got in Detroit? Why did all wings fans expect him to be ovechkin for that kind of salary?

You get what you pay for, so I dont see how you can roast samuelsson when he was payed peanuts in Detroit.

As one of the original Sammy defenders, I have to say that this is the same situation as Kyle Quincey.

No way was Sammy going to get the minutes and opportunity in Det he is getting in Van.

He is streaky, he has something to prove, streaky guys with something to prove usually start of like a house of fire. Then slow down.

When Sedin is healthy again, Sammy's minutes and line mates will slow down a touch. Then his numbers will even out a little more.

Sammy could have scored the game winning goal in triple OT in game 7 of the finals last year and I still would have wanted him gone in the off season.

Good riddance to the slow sklating, puck mishandling while on the point on the powerplay, logo hunting, net missing turnover machine.

/spit.
