It's funny seeing all these jealous "fans" bash one of the best hockey players in the game over a normal hockey event. The hypocrisy in most of the posters in this thread is astonishing.

And you just love getting them all worked up. :)

LOL. From the angle I saw it looked like Crosby fought because he wanted to, not because he lost control of his emotions. He squared up with his opponent, they yapped at eachother (as opposed to Crosby loosing his cool and just jumping him) and the fight started organicly by what appeared to be a mutual understanding.

Crosby didn't lose control of himself and do do something childish like throwing a chair on the ice or beating up a girl (Kocur), he doesn't so lack control over his impulses that he gambles and drinks of his money away and blindsides lesser fghters (McCarty), he doesn't run goalies, smuggle coke in his underwear, pull hair or headbut (Probert). He seems like a pretty okay guy in this instance.

Crosby admitted in an interview that it was an emotional thing. He got slew-footed, didn't like it, so he went up to Zid because he wanted to fight.

Who even cares if he did it out of rage or to send a message? Both are fine anyways.

Do you think Crosby fights back if it's, say, Komisarek or Beauchemin slew-footing him? Doubt it. He quickly knew he was taking on someone he could handle.

So you're dogging a league superstar for picking his spots? There are plenty of pansies in this league who don't have the sack to stand up for themselves against anyone. Crosby was slew-footed by a guy his own size and fought him. It was an example of how things are supposed to work in this league. Crosby was wronged by and fought one of his peers.

When Ozzie and Vernon fought Roy, were you thinking to yourself "I bet if that were Hextall they wouldn't be fighting him!" Of course not. They did what they were expected to do against who they were expected to do it against at the time that it was expected of them - just like Crosby.

Had Zidlicky skated away, Crosby would not have penched Zids in the back of the head ala Bert. did Crosby want to fight? Yes. would Crosby have pressed the issue if Zids was clearly cowering in terror ala Franzen? Probably not. I've never seen anything out of Crosby to indicate otherwise.

Probably not, but like I said he admitted he wanted to fight because he was pissed about being slew-footed. It happens. Not a big deal.

Agreed. The poster I was responding to implied (or flat out stated, I'm too lazy to go back a page and see which) that it reflected negatively on Crosby, as if he lost control of himself. He didn't, his reaction was reasonable considering the circumstances and well precedented by other league superstars throughout the ages.

yeah I agree with you Doc,some of these guys think when Crosby fights he needs to first attend an anger management class to make sure he's fighting for the right reason and not just a spur of the moment thing ?!

That anger management thing might not be so bad. He always seems to go to the two-hander first.

That was a nice little two hander Crosby had to start the fight... No penatly i gather?

They stopped it out of embarrasment... Crosby fights like a little boy who was told he had to go to his room without being allowed to play WoW

Both players had slashes just before the fight and both got penalties for it.
