DETROIT -- Update from the Detroit Red Wings' practice Monday at Joe Louis Arena:

The flu bug finally is hitting the dressing room, as two more defensemen, Brian Rafalski and Niklas Kronwall, were ill and missed practice. Jonathan Ericsson, who missed the last game because of the flu, also did not practice.

“We went to Edmonton, their whole team was sick, so we’re not surprised we end up with some sick guys,'' coach Mike Babcock said. "Ideally, we’ll have all hands on deck for tomorrow (vs. Boston), we’ll just find out.’’

Left wing Brad May, who didn't skate, was scheduled to see team doctors later this afternoon after taking a stick in the eye in Saturday's game. The injury is not significant but will idle May for the next two games. Babcock said May could be ready for Saturday's game in Toronto.

Chris Osgood will start against the Bruins.

They skated with the same forward lines they used the last game, with the exception of Ville Leino replacing May:

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Cleary-Zetterberg-Williams

Draper-Helm-Eaves

Leino-Abdelkader-Maltby

Gah.. no mercy at all....

AND screw Edmonton! :ranting:

If it wasn't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all. The season started out crappy and it's gotten progressively more so. What next.....a foreign-born player getting deported?

pavel....?

where are you?

Not the oink oink flu, is it?

Not unlikely-- there've been confirmed H1N1 cases league wide.

EDIT: I thought I heard the HNIC guys say the Edmonton dressing room had it.

son of a....

does this mean our defence will consist of...

Lidstrom, Kindl

Stuart, Meech

Lebda, Delmore?

if so...yikes

Haven't seen any of the GR defenders play, but is it unreasonable to think that Janik might be the one called up instead of Delmore? He has 6 points (1, 5) to Delmore's 2 assists, and is a plus 4 (Delmore is a 0). Granted, Delmore has more NHL experience and is more gifted offensively, but I just get the impression that Janik is more of a stay-at-home guy less prone to errors.

Janik is recalled from GR.

Yeah, Janik's recall is confirmed on www.theahl.com. He's been playing well in GR and the Griffin's next game isn't until Friday anyway. Might at well let the sick-ees take the night off.

The question will next be will the Wings send him back down...or will they send someone else!
