HHOF tonight

Did anyone else get a little choked-up Saturday night when Stevie stepped onto the ice at the ACC with the entire crowd on their feet applauding?

I must say, I did get a little choked up, but tonight will be the true test!! LOL His jersey retirement ceremony was hard not to get choked up during, but now that he is going into the Hall of Fame it will be tough to not get choked up!

Congratulations to Steve Yzerman for everything he has done for the Wings, Detroit, Michigan, and Canada! I still don't think he gets the credit he deserves!

I have a friend coming over at 8:30, I think I want to watch Stevie's speech later on my own (I'm recording it) so he doesn't see me cry.

Edit: I got a little choked up during Hull's speech (Luc is next) I can't imagine what I'll be like when it's The Captain's turn.

Stevie is up next. He may get his speech done just before my friend comes over. I'll have enough time to recover :hehe:

Wishful thinking there :P

Wow. What a special night for those guys. I remember when Steve Yzerman was drafted. I remember those early years. It's just amazing what a young kid I was at the time. And tonight I sat with my little baby playing on the carpet listening to his HHOF speech.

But what an amazing group to go in. I can think of other years, that I was like 'whatever' for that class of guys going in. This is definetly the best class in recent history.

I cried a little during his speech.

I tried not to as I thought it may seem a little wrong as I don't personally know the guy, but I just couldn't help it... he is too humble... too unassuming in his own legacy... and thoroughly an all around great guy. He deserves it.

Plus, just so as I can say, I never got to see the early years of Stevie (unfortunately) but I did get to see his final years and STILL feel like I had watched the guy through everything. He just seems to draw you in and never seems to disappoint. Truly great all around player, maybe even (and probably a little bias here) the best, complete player, to have played the game. He's what I would love my son to be.
