skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 (edited) Just got back from the game. The officiating was horrible (which was already stated here quite a few times) but the Wings didn't play as well as they needed to in order to win either. Obviously a lot of this had to do with being on the PK half the game but a lot of players were making mistakes that shouldn't have been made. Ericsson, Rafalski, and Bertuzzi come to mind making mistakes more than a couple times. The Zetterberg line looked solid again and it was a pretty nice goal from Z tonight to continue his point streak but overall, the game was sorely disappointing. I wanted to add that we were in section 109 across from where the "non-goal" went in and we lost sight of it, but there was no ******* way the ref intended to blow the whistle BEFORE the puck went in because it went in as soon as May threw it at the goal. Then we got to watch them review it, go over the Detroit bench...tell them why it didn't count, watch the team get pissed off, send Draper over to the official to argue it some more and then it still stayed as no goal. Disheartening loss, but hopefully they come out with fire in their eyes next game. Edited November 19, 2009 by skyphoenix
Pucks 66 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 NHL = bush league. Only in this league can you shoot the puck in the net and have it completely fubar'd by the whole incompetent lot of them. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
Vladiator 116 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 As said, horrible calls. What ticks me off the most is that we lost to that bastard coach named Crawford.
skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 I think what might be more important than the blown call is the fact that only one of our four lines is looking like they can consistently score. Datsyuk has no one to play with on the top line. Bertuzzi looked like garbage tonight and once again blew too many chances given to him on a silver platter by Datsyuk. Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 Maybe it was screw may day? with the BS slash call + this waived off goal...
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 Perhaps the "intent to blow the whistle" meant that he intended to blow the whistle if a Wing scored a tying goal. Beyond that, I'm befuddled.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 Bettman wants an easy pass for crosby to the back2back cups... detroit posed too much of a threat last year taking it to 7... so he has instructed the refs to screw the wings over every chance they can!
Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted November 19, 2009 Well, Turco didnt get the win which I'm happy about, Auld did. That would have been Turco's like 2nd win the JLA ice. The call was blown so bad it makes a hooker look like a severly clogged vaccuum cleaner.

The only way Howard could have won was to pitch a shut out.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 19, 2009 this right here. Big concern. The only way Howard could have won was to pitch a shut out. Eh, it's been a bit feast or famine for the Wings in the late going, but some nights you win big and other nights you have to win close, low-scoring games. The Wings did enough to probably get a point out of this one and got jobbed. There's reason to be upset, probably more for us than them, as I assume they're already looking ahead to tomorrow night.
