Guest Four Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Howard is playing a lot better than I would have imagined, good thing too. We need someone to keep this team together during the injuries and it may as well start off with the most important player on the team.

Outsider 42 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Now this is more like it. It's almost like watching Detroit Red Wings hockey again. Haven't seen that in awhile.
hankzet40 233 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Great win for the Wings today and Howard is looking better and better. Nice to see Bertuzzi pot one so hopefully that opens the floodgates.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Definitely a good win tonight. They needed it with CBJ winning as well. Hopefully CAL can hold on.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 That was a nice, stress-free game for us fans. The Wings took a lead, added to it and never let up. Bertuzzi scored a nice goal, I'm glad he got rewarded for shooting the puck. Turco wasn't really to blame for the loss, his team played pretty crappy in front of him. The Wings caught some bounces, just like last game. Weird how bunched together the luck has been for Detroit this season; 4 straight games with great chances that don't go in, then 2 straight with lucky bounces going in that had no business doing so. Jimmy Howard is showing me something. I had all but written the kid off going into this season, but he's playing big and seems to have his confidence. The Wings need him, because the goaltending has been a major weakness.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Team looked great tonight. And I have to say, as one of Howard's fiercest critics on here, I think he's been better with each and every game. Now, we know he's really easily shaken, so we'll see how long it lasts, but for now, I feel comfortable with Howard starting games. If he can keep the rebounds under control and take some mental training from Ozzie, he'll be a solid backup. And I'm excited for Bert, let's hope it means he's back on track! Oh, and I saw someone mention Williams a few posts up, which is funny, because I've forgotten he played for this team when I think about players returning from injuries. That's how nonessential he is.

And they should. They're winning with him in net. Can NOT afford to lose games right now. Not a single one. They'll come right back with Howard against Edmonton on Thursday, (I think???). Count on it.

AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Oz will probably get a start over the weekend as they have 3 games in 4 nights. But Howard has been playing really well and I am totally confident with him in there for the time being.
cjm502 165 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 As much as it hurts to say this, Meech was not to bad tonight. He had lots of time on the PP, and looked good out there.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 ^ Meech > Lebduh Now, we know he's really easily shaken, so we'll see how long it lasts When was it this season where he gave up those really bad goals - was that Sweden? Either way, he bounced back from it pretty well.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 You kinda made that sound like a bad thing, getting Fil back. Well, it took some time for the Wings to adjust to guys being out. Oftentimes it takes time for guys to get back in the swing of things.

Perhaps, but I also like to think of it like a trade acquisition. That's definately how getting Mule back will feel.

Flippula just has to play defensively. He won't be relied heavily to produce right when he comes back. His injury shouldn't effect his skating much.
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Anyone else notice that when Howard is in goal, we get the puck luck ... so many open nets but opponents can't seem to score or hit the post.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Only 17,645 in the crowd tonight. Not the best showing. Put a better string of wins together and the attendance will rise.
