newfy 695 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 May IS a punching bag. The only thing he can enforce is his son's bed time. Holmstrom plays with a top 5 center (in all the NHL) at all times and gets 1st unit PP time. Do you expect him not to score goals? I expect the guy in his position to put up 40+ goals a season. The only fight all year where May even looked like a punching bag was his fight with ripper. That also happened to be the fight where May beat him up before rypien had to jersey him and punch him while the linesman weren't doing their job by breaking it up. Other then that he's fought a bunch of legit fighters and hasn't lost decisively if not at all. And Homer has earned the right to that spot. He's a warrior and works hard for all his goals, he would probably get 90 points a season if he got creditted for an assist everytime a puck went in because of his screen on the goalie. I would like to see you stand infront of a hockey puck coming at you 100 mph, that could easily break your face, take constant hack and crosschecks to your body and say you don't deserve the ice time you're getting. He's producing so leave him where he is

Swayze 81 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 how about how may would WHOOP downeys ass!!!>!??!! hes got old man strength, dont f*** wit it Downey's a better fighter. May is a better overall player though, as he's shown especially in the last few games, you notice him when he has the puck too instead of just when the mitts fly off. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Leading the league in playing with awesome players, as well. Does it matter? If Holmstrom were not playing those goals would not have scored. He's the only reason they can shoot at a goalie's chest and still score. Without Holmstrom, you see the goals dry up pretty quick the way things have been going this season. Holmstrom has done nothing to invite criticism this year.
LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I am interested in Kovalchuk, Mitchell & Ward... as UFA's... of course there are a few RFA's that need to be re-signed in Abby, Helm & possibly Drew Miller... Homer should he re-sign, should be around $1MM as should Bertuzzi. Goodbye to Maltby, May, Eaves, Williams, Lilja, LEbda & Meech. Lids is the x-factor here. I say hang em up, but I hope he makes a decision FAST, so Holland doesn't miss out on the likes of Kovalchuk or Mitchell... I still like Ladd as an RFA option... We have $16M cap space. Highly unlikely we score Kovalchuk, but that would be #1 on the wish list.
Carman 387 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Eww at Ward. Anyone have any idea of Volchenkov's plans for next season? He'll be pretty hard to pry I'm sure, but I haven't followed him much how impossible would it be?

He's been a nice compliment to the 3rd line and he seems to be getting better as the season progresses. I like to see other PK'ers out there like Eaves, this give Dats and Z less PK time and more energy for scoring goals.
