Some people when the going gets tough, run and hide. In this case, Dick wants to retreat to what's comfortable and easy for him.

Or, he could bust his ass, fight, fight some more, and maybe make something of himself in the big leagues. Where anyone who is worth a s*** plays and makes a name for themselves.

Nill I would think knows damn well this is a test of his will and courage and determination. Sometimes you've got to disappoint the kid to help them later.

In a couple years if he hasn't improved and he still wants to go, well, see ya kid.

Dick Axelsson has repeated on several occasions that he thinks it is difficult in the farm league in North America and was open to a comeback in Farjestad, where he became Swedish [Eliteserien] champion this past summer.

Axelsson should dealwithit.gif

I was at the Griffins' game this past Saturday. I was amazed at the lack of effort on Dick's part compared to the last two times I had seen him play (about a month ago). At the earlier games, he was a monster - a huge presence on the ice. Driving to the net on every play, right in the opponents' face. On Saturday, he was non-existent. On Friday, I'm told that he was a healthy scratch.

If he doesn't want to be here...let him go. He's only taking away ice time for the young kids that want to play.

This season has been such a disappointment for Axelsson. Coming off a very successful season in the SEL I was expecting big things from Dick and he's been extremely ordinary. A healthy scratch half the nights and invisible in the others, perhaps it is best for him to go home because it's just not working. How much of that can simply be put down to his apparant poor attitude remains to be seen. If he doesn't stick around, his chances of a career in Detroit significantly decrease.

1. I really doubt Nill simply said no.

2. I really doubt Nill hasn't discussed this with Axelsson at length. Why have a player on your team unless he understands that there's a plan for him.

3. And most importantly. Axelsson isn't putting up a fight.

They should just drop the "axe" on Axelsson.

No they shouldn't. Before Tatar was drafted he was the most offensively gifted of all the Wings forward prospects (yeah, even more than Mursak). There's no way they're going to let him piss his future away by going back to the SEL at this point.

He'll have to tough it out just like Mursak did last year and Kindl did the year before. Both Mursak and Kindl had brutal AHL rookie seasons but blossomed in their sophomore years. This should be no different.

I too just hope he sticks it out, I have always liked him as well.

Watching the Griffins game today, in all honesty, he might as well go home.

He's somewhat painful, barely giving an effort. You can see his obvious skill, but he's floating.

Really?? I don't see that at all. I think he's been fine. Not great, but I don't really see any difference in him tonight than any other game I've seen this season.
