I hope it goes up by a Mill but that's just me. I'd like to be able to prusue a big name free agent if the oppertunity arises. Of course I'm more worried about what a situation is going to be whitin the organzation as far as who's gonna be around and who's gonna come up. If anyone.

I think the cap staying the same is a win for the NHL and its teams. The fear at the beginning of the season was the cap dropping like 3-4 million. Another year will give the economy more time to rebound...if it ever does

Yeah, where's the Toronto Media w/ their "The Cap is going to go down 5-10 million?"

Anyway, if it stays the same or goes up a million that will be great really, considering this economy and all.

I guess the cap going up depends on the Pens' cap situation at years end. Sorry had to!

I agree.

I doubt the cap will ever drop a significant amount. Too many teams would be screwed.

I hope it goes up by a million so that resigning Bourque wouldn't be a problem for the Flames.

How does that help Detroit?

Everything must help Detroit, or don't bother posting it!!

I'm not surprised. I always thought the idea of the cap dropping so much was a little fishy. The earlier point was likely made in an effort to be cautious in a shaky economy where teams have started spending like crazy on huge, long contracts, and with that in mind it makes enough sense. Things could have and I suppose could still go really south, and the excessive contracts really needed to be given a reality check.

I dont see this anywhere in Gary Bettman's NHL Rulebook. However, I do see a rather large Penguins logo on the cover.

You didn't know? It's why the refs wear black and white!

Personalyl I'd rather see the cap go up a $1M because I think that will afford us more opportunity to better our team. I'd rather see the Wings in a situation to better our team than the other 29 teams being a tighter cap situation. Because of how the Wigns cap is I think that extra million would go further and help us more than taking away a million would hurt a team like Chicago. But that's just me.

Is it wrong to hope the cap goes down for the simple fact that it would screw the blackhawks?

Not in my world - I'd love that.

Due to the high amount of money-losing teams, however, I get ths suspicion the NHL is going to ask for some serious concessions from the PA at the next CBA, so I expect the cap to go down for 2011-12 anyway.

I know this is a bit fo an oversimplification, but to expect the Red Wings and Coyotes to pay the players on their team the same amount when one team's gate and overall revenue is exponentially higher than the other is simply not a good business practice if you really want a level playing field.

Would you be more in favor of a 60/40 split the NFL has for the gate revenue?
