eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted December 23, 2009 And saying someone not named Lebda is the most sub-par in a team where there already is someone named Lebda is just wrong. Well, that's not true. There are AHL teams with worse players.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 He was awesome in tonight's game. Knocking guys off the puck, creating scoring chances and backchekcing like a madman I want to take back everything I said about him earlier in this thread.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Well im not basing it on one game im basing it on half a season. of course all the players have had ups and downs throughout the games. he has had no ups. There was no game where i thought to myself he was even close to the best player on the ice (or even top 5). So if you're not the best player you're the worst? I get it now. Did you see all the penalties he drew by pretending to be tripped behind the hawks net? It always works for him i think thats why he always does it.
stuck in socal 56 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 The 26th of December Filppula returns to the lineup. Maybe Babcock will put Leino and Filp together? It could help Leino's confidence if he plays with his Finnish Brethren!
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 The 26th of December Filppula returns to the lineup. Maybe Babcock will put Leino and Filp together? It could help Leino's confidence if he plays with his Finnish Brethren! Maybe we can convert Homer into a Finn, and then we can have a whole line of them. Seriously, if Leino only plays well when he's with Flip, then he isn't much of an NHL player.

Seriously, if Leino only plays well when he's with Flip, then he isn't much of an NHL player. But Leino is clearly snake-bitten right now. Who knows maybe playing with Flip would help him get his confidence back. Then maybe he could be a force on any line with any teammate.

Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted December 25, 2009 Mhmm. Meaning that Leino's problems on the ice are mental problems.
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted December 25, 2009 I'm thinking Leino just isn't suited for the faster pace/more physical game that the NHL is...There are times he looks like he belongs, but then there are times he looks as though he should go back home to Finland. Overall I'm not impressed. EDIT - Leino is currently on pace for 79 games, 6 goals, 6 assists, and a -8 rating If he doubles that, I'm happy with him. Broken 16 381 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 How is Leino in the lineup better than Newberry in the lineup? I don't get it. Newberry may not be stellar, but he brings a lot more than Leino. Surely a number cruncher out there can come up with a stat that justifies Leino over Newberry... but I just don't see it.

Well Leino is better talent-wise than Newbury. But the problem is Leino is worthless when he shys away from physical contact and doesn't do much of anything. uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 Here are some players who have the same or more points this season than Ville Leino despite most of them playing less games: (Bolded players earn less or the same as Leino) Daniel Carcillo Steve Downie Travis Moen Zack Stortini Ian Laperriere Shawn Thornton Matt Carkner Chris Neil Michael Rupp Sean Avery Rick Rypien and Brandon Prust have one less point, despite playing about 10 games less. Ville Leino is being out produced by goons. Thats how useless he is. And theres probably more goons out performing him but I got bored of searching.
