Broken 16 381 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Why all the concern for a former player? Because he's noble and should be hoisted on our shoulders.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I don't think anyone blames Hossa specifically, but he was much better in the regular season than he was in the playoffs. Can't blame people for not having a whole lot of love for him. I'm happier with Franzen anyways -- although I suppose Hossa's got Mule beat when it comes to injury recovery time. Even in the Finals he made a few nice plays that resulted in goals (although some people think assists don't count), but I think there's a reasonable explanation for his being a superstar one year and just another guy the next. I'm sure people aren't happy with that or have very many fond memories of him because of that, but folks can do whatever they like, that's not really what I was posting about anyways. I'm not saying he is selfish. I just hate when people call his actions "noble". Alright then.
dropkickshanahans 463 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I'm not a big guy on booing. Then again I'm better than everyone else. I lol'd.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 f*** Hossa. I hope he never feels comfortable in JLA again. f*** you. PS: If this post gets deleted, I hope broken 16's does as well, as I didn't do anything different than him.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Eh I don't see why people would be anal enough to boo Hossa to begin with, but I certainly enjoy seeing people show they give a crap, even if it's for stupid reasons. If 20K+ packed the Joe just to boo Hossa, it's better than 20K+ silent people.
Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted December 24, 2009 f*** the Hawks? Yeah I buy that one. We all know how LGW loves to stroke the ego's of the rivals. Why not start loving the Hawk's while we're at it?
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) 7.4 million for nothing. Why should they cheer? Anyways, f*ck him. Who cares. He's a jinx. Edited December 24, 2009 by Wings_Dynasty
Tommy_Like_Wingy 25 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 To be a true Red Wings fan you have to boo Hossa and then whine when Pittsburgh did the same exact thing last year and call it "classless".

wingnut40 176 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I just hate when people call his actions "noble". Because he's noble and should be hoisted on our shoulders. OK, well if you don't like "noble" then let me rephrase, he did the "unselfish" thing and took less money. To me that shows character, that he's not a greedy money-hungry guy and that he actually cares about playing for a good team and winning the Cup. He seems like a good man(of course I don't know him personally) and good men shouldn't get booed IMHO.

Tommy_Like_Wingy 25 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I can't believe anyone cares whether or not fans boo a former player. Apparently everybody here does after complaining when Pittsburgh fans did it to Hossa last year.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I absolutely got nothing against Hossa. I'm glad that he tried to help the Wings last year. He wanted to go to Chicago this year, good for him and that's his choice. He owes nothing to Detroit, Wings fans owe nothing to him. But he's not with the Red Wings anymore, he's with the enemy. That means some won't like him anymore, and that he was going to get razzed tonight. Fans are going to be fans at games, especially when it's big-named players. You could've seen this coming from a million miles away, at minimum just because fans will be fans and boo or be a part of the crowd to "fit in" whether it is correct or not. Not hard to figure out. This is nothing more or less than Avs or Blackhawk fans saying Detroit sucks, or Nashville fans razzing goalies with "Goalie Name YOU SUCK" after the goal or Pitt fans when they booed Hossa or whatever else. Nothing wrong with any of these things. Fans could do MUCH WORSE in any of these situations. It's called having some fun. Let the fans have their fun as long as they are going it in a civilized or respectful manner. If it's just booing, that's rated-G stuff that I would hardly consider disrespectful or offending. I'm sorry, but some of you all are losing your cookies way too easily here on this one.

Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Fans pay the money, so they can do what they want. Such as pounding on the glass, throwing objects at the opposing teams' coaches, and standing up in front of the camera during play. Doesn't mean they aren't douchebags for it. Hossa got job security and more money with signing for the Hawks. He came here to win the cup, and since his best shot failed he went for tenure. Nothing to be mad at him for. I hope he finds success wherever he goes even if that means if that happens in Chicago.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Also, most fans aren't going to care or remember about why Hossa was here or the details of taking less money or whatever. And they especially aren't going to care in the heat of the moment, during the game itself.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I'd boo Hossa because he completely s*** the bed in the playoffs and did nothing when it mattered most, rather than leaving after signing a 1 year deal.
