RainingBlood 8 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Detroit fans are just sad that they won't have a player of Hossa's caliber again for a long time. Are you kidding me. Tell me what caliber player is he. So he scored 40 goals big s***, when it came time to step it up in the finals he fell on his ******* face. Detroit is better without him, let's wait until they become a full team again to see where they stand.
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Yeah. It's quite embarrassing. I know fans want to show their loyalty but that doesn't mean we have to boo him. They should be demoted to being Pens fans for that matter. I wouldn't boo the guy. Look at that contract he got- who in their right mind would've turned that down! That contract set him up for the rest of his playing career!

Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted December 24, 2009 He's posting from Illinois. You do the math. The math I'm trying to figure out is if 13 + 40 = awesome, whats -13 + -40 = ?

Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I just hope after the olympic break Babcock brings back the ZDH line. They've gotta get something figured out. It's almost as if Detroit is telling the rest of the league "Look, when we win we win big, and when we lose, we wanna lose big!" I think they've doing pretty damn good considering, these last few games however have been disasterous.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I find it really amusing how way too much is being read into this. If you all keep it simple in thought in that fans are going to be fans and boo big-named players when they used to play for your team (regardless of who your team is), you could have seen this coming from galaxies and galaxies away. This shouldn't be so stunning or disappointing to people. It's not bad, it's not good, it is what it is. Detroit fans are no better/worse going about this than Pitt fans, Chicago fans, whatever. 13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) I can't believe people are suprised about some fans booing this guy! I loved Hoss as a wing, I think everyone here did. However we are having a horrid year so far, we are still bitter about game 7, we are still bitter Hoss went to the Hawks and we are still bitter about Hoss's lack luster playoff performance! Again Id take him back in a second and I wish he never left so I won't boo him but hey this is the sports world and I also think Hossas character brought this on himself in the past couple years ...a little Yashinesk if u ask me lol Edited December 24, 2009 by 13dangledangle
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Gotta love threads like these, especially when the Hawks beat the Wings 3-0 two times in one week. Ouch. Get over it people.
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Realistically, what would people rather have? The Wings sign Hossa and see Franzen roll into the Joe in a Hawks sweater? Franzen's been here his whole career, Hossa played here for one, and the Wings didn't have money for both. The Hawks were in the market for a goal scorer. Hossa already took a massive risk signing a one-year deal here. Just because a player isn't willing to take a hometown discount to sign with our beloved Red Wings doesn't mean he should get booed. Now, I'm starting to get pissed off because we didn't sign Hudler. Maybe, it's because eva has brainwashed me. We could've easily get both Franzen and Hudler. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Now, I'm starting to get pissed off because we didn't sign Hudler. Maybe, it's because eva has brainwashed me. We could've easily get both Franzen and Hudler. Perhaps, if Holland could have signed Hudler during the year. Holland said again and again that he couldn't sign everyone, but I think he was holding out hope he could sign Franzen and Hossa when that meant losing Hudler and Sammy. Losing Hossa meant there was money for Hudler, but not the kind of money the KHL offered him.
Seraph 240 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I'm just glad he took his get-on-a-break-away-and-then-do-a-useless-spin-o-rama-shot move out of here. I had flashbacks of his pathetic run in the playoffs when he did that last game.
thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Meh. Whatever. I'm not butt-sore he left, but he did leave us for a rival. regardless of the fact he left couldn't get the same money for us and made a sound professional and financial decision, he *did* leave us, and for a divisional rival. If it gets into his head, I'd do it, just for tactical advantage. And... it seemed to work last year in the SCF. But, no- I have no beef with Hossa.
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 Hmm, I think this is a terrible thread lol. You must not go to many games. If you can boo, yell, scream at anything at a hockey game you do. Its just adds more fun to going to a game. Hell when you are at hockey game and a play is called offside but the player raises his hands the whole crowd supports him and boos the ref. Its all in good fun! How does that make us classless or embarresing to your team. To be a good fan, is to show that you are there, mess with the other team cheer on your team and make the other places afraid of your building! I agree I loved Hossa, my dad used to play hockey in slovakia with his father and he even held hossa as a baby, regardless of that I would still boo Hossa! If we face them in the playoffs ( fingers crossed ) I will be bringing a sign in slovak and try to stick it in his face. I could boo Hossa, because he left us. He could of took less to stay. Honestly I don't think he liked Detroit to much, our city isn't exactly beautiful nor do people really go "hang out" in detroit, I tihnk Chicago is much more of a better city for him. My family in slovakia are kind of snobs, and I bet Hossa has the same persona. Go Wings! I couldn't agree more. Lighten up people. I don't think Hossa's going to fall apart because Detroit fans boo him.

Times can change quick in the NHL. Chicago certainly has the roster to be a rival (Hossa and Kane alone fulfill this need). Chicago isn't an expansion team. That's the great thing about the original 6. Once two teams become really good... it's an instant rivalry. There really isn't need for a bunch of drama to occur. It happens instamatically! CHICAGO SUCKS! HOSSA IS AN *******!!! Edited December 24, 2009 by Broken

I'm trying to find a perfect Red Wing player/coach/gm quote, but the best one is already in use. That being "All done? Five bucks!" Datsyuk after an interview.
