dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...ward_matti.html “Anytime someone comes in and moves into the spot you were in and now you don’t have a line, I’d say that’s a message,’’ Babcock said. “But it’s not about sending a message anymore. We got to be better. You get so much opportunity and if you don’t take advantage of your opportunity, somebody else gets the opportunity.’’ Looks like Leino had his chance and blew it. ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 Ville thinks highly of himself: "Restricted free agent forward Ville Leino said he expects to get a deal done with the Wings but said he is done playing in Grand Rapids and would want to be assured he will have a roster spot with the team. "I don't want to play in the AHL anymore, and I won't do that anymore,'' Leino said" Someone should have reminded him you can't play in the NHL on talent alone, you have to have a little drive as well. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 I've pretty much had it with this guy. If there ever was a time to step up and make a name for yourself, it is now. No way he will get the same opportunity once players start returning. But when we get players back, less pressure will be on Leino to be a top 6 scorer, something he is obviously not ready to be. If we could have a 3rd line of Leino-Flip-Williams I'm pretty sure they'd get something going, but we don't have enough healthy bodies to do that yet. matt198913 932 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 I'm glad their going to give Ritola a chance here for a couple of games. Leino just hasn't looked like he did last year. Ritola was the only one who even created a spark in the Chicago game the other night so we'll see
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 Yes, Leino needs to spend a month on Aaron Downey's farm. So sick of watching the guy get his obvious lack of size and strength exploited by defenders. Also it wouldn't hurt if he did some of Draper's lower body workouts. Rick Zombos Ghost 82 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 If I recall Brunnstrom chose Dallas. It was because he wanted to be inserted directly into an NHL lineup without having to earn it. Which is exactly what Leino ended up doing anyway.

Broken 16 381 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 1) Make 'Leino is lazy and he sucks' thread... check 2) Photoshop post making fun of Leino surfaces... check 3) Posters dogpiling Ville and telling him to go back to Finland... check 4) Carman disagreeing out of spite... check 5) Random poster missing the point and slamming LGW... check Now all we need is Jake Ryan to come up with another great nickname and Ville will be on his way to a 20 goal season. Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 28, 2009 Ritola, recalled from Grand Rapids Sunday, will replace Ville Leino in the lineup. Simply put, Babcock was tired of seeing Leino float around the ice, so now Ritola has a chance to show what he can do. He played 7:48 in last Wednesday's 3-0 loss to Chicago. Cheers Mike, you're the man.
