Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted January 7, 2010 * IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ * A few changes this week. As you might notice, I have decided to implement the 'drop 3' rule. The way this works is that everyone's 3 lowest scores (zero's included) will be dropped from their total score. I understand that some people will be negatively impacted as a result of this rule but it is designed to bring the pack closer together and to stop one missed week from ruining your chance to win, or finish right near the top. If anyone has any complaints, suggestions or general feedback, please let me know, I'm happy to listen to everyone's thoughts on the matter. As I said, I realise some people might have taken a hit as a result of this rule but it seems to be the most suitable move, especially with so many people missing the past few weeks for different reasons. ALSO... I have decided to introduce a new feature, the 'double up' or 'jackpot' or whatever you want to call it. Basically you pick one game, any game at all (if people want to make it just one set game I'm happy to do that too; would probably make my life easier!) and have that game the one that is worth double. For example: Tampa Bay @ New Jersey x2 So If New Jersey win, I'd receive two points. I'd like to hear people's thoughts as I've been contemplating this one for a while now. I realise probably not everyone will read this post so some people might miss out on the double up. I'd also like to hear whether people want it just one set game or any, personally I like the freedom of picking whatever game you like as the one you're willing to back the most. Greatness=PavelDatsyuk 65 Report post Posted January 7, 2010 as a suggestion for next season, instead of choosing to double the points for one game for free, make it so you can guess the score on all the games, and the right ones get doubled. This way it will actually make a difference, as people have to make a correct score call instead of getting the free double points for picking the almost guaranteed win. This way it will actually make a difference, as people have to make a correct score call instead of getting the free double points for picking the almost guaranteed win. my suggestion that I just sent to aussie in a IM was to keep it the way he proposed it but if your doubled up team loses you get a point subtracted from your total. Well I suggest that anyone who posts a "double up" on a Penguins game loses 4 pts of the Pens lose. Similarly, if they lose on a "doubled up" Wings game they still win 1 pt because they're a Wings fan and thus are natural winners anyway. I understand that some games seem like guarantees but really, a lot of upsets happen so I'm expecting to often see the doubled up teams lose. And besides, that's the whole point, you should be scoring two points off your selected game. Again, if a few more people feel it should be one set game I'm happy to change it. I like your idea of having a choice whether to double up a game or not, therefore at the end if it were close say the 2nd position person could go for the double up and score two, the top person might then lose a point. If a person didn't want to take any risk they could just make their selections as they normally would with no "double upping" Drake,no way would I double up on the pens anytime soon,you never know which team is going to show up,the one that wants to win or the one that just wants to make the pretty passes during the PP :-) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
