gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Jeez people, Nabokov spit out some rebounds as well. He must be terrible also? Jimmy made 2 nice saves on the play, WTF else do you want? Never mind, please don't answer. Cutting and pasting... I'm not trying to hang Howard here, I'm defending the defensemen that you all seem content to string up while ignoring the fact that they're incessantly having to deal with crazy rebounds. Nightfall 871 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Why, because he speaks the truth about rebound control being Howard's biggest problem? You sir are a homer if you take his post to be so blatantly horrible. Watch the replay. The puck went off Zetterberg's leg from the point. I suppose the top goalies in the NHL would have no rebounds on a deflected or screened shot.

syntax 359 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Sometimes that guy just hurts my soul. I almost feel embarrassed for his sake at times...he seems like a nice guy but good heavens, he's corny as hell all the time. He's a little annoying, but it could be worse. His interview with Kronner a second ago was fine.

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Watch the replay. The puck went off Zetterberg's leg from the point. I suppose the top goalies in the NHL would have no rebounds on a deflected or screened shot. Listen, Howard could've fallen over and cried and let in the goal and I wouldn't have been too pissed at him. What bothers me about the situation in terms of discussion is that either way it goes really, Howard's giving up rebounds. Defend the goal all you want, I don't really care, but the rebounds are still there quite often which leaves the defensemen scrambling again and again. Then you all get pissed that the defense is scrambling while they've got 2, 3 even 4 guys crashing the net on the crazy rebounds. Many have said it, and I'm saying it again, our defense is infinitely stronger than you guys are giving them credit for, especially lately. I'll give Howard all the credit in the world for stopping most of the second and third shots he gives up on rebounds, but it doesn't change the fact that the rebounds are what keep leaving the defense scrambling. And make no mistake, the defense is doing a great job handling the scrambles. Howard has gotten a ton of support from them and has flat out had his ass saved by them numerous times this season, including Thursday and tonight. I'm just saying, you really all need to give the D a break here and consider the context they're playing in oftentimes out there. Believe me, no matter how well Howard is playing, he would not be putting up the numbers he's been putting up if not for a really great defensive support system. He's been great, but so have they. Everyone knows Howards rebound control and puck-handling are the areas of his game which need the most work. Given where he started this year, you really should cut him some slack - he has improved quite a bit and is more than adequate at stopping the puck.

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) As tense as my gut is watching this game, I still marvel at how well our young'ns are playing. And anybody who's knowledgeable about the game has to see this happening out there. They are taking no crap from anyone and they're more than holding their own. Often enough, they've been the chasees as opposed to being the chasers. I'm proud of 'em for Bringing It. Edited January 10, 2010 by Vladifan

It's not a bad way to get going in some ways if they can keep their head's straight.
