ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Were there any defensemen on the ice at all? I don't blame Jimmy for that one single bit!
hankzet40 233 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Christ Almighty. I know Howie has rebound trouble but the D gave him zero help there.

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 That was a hell of a couple saves that Howard had there. Defense really didn't help him there. I know some people like to harp on the goalie for not controlling the rebound, but every goalie gives them up every now and then.
XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Jimmy can't even be faulted for that rebound because the first shot was a hard slapper that bounced out. he saved the first rebound attempt and our D, and even bertuzzi just stood there and watched two wide open SJ players get to the puck and pop it in. Nightfall 871 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 The replay says it all. It looked like the initial shot deflected off of Zetterberg's leg. Either that or he was partially screened. I can't say that Howard should have had that rebound.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Question, how come Lebda's shots (as rare as they are) always require the goalie standing up and gloving it high in the air to save. Why can't he shoot lower?
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) You people hating on the defense are outrageously off the mark on this one. This is the thing: Howard incessantly gives up huge rebounds. It's beyond obvious. What's happening here and what happened (with less success...) last night is that guys shoot the puck at the net knowing they'll get a rebound and 2-3 guys CRASH as hard and fast as possible. This isn't a defensive issue. The goalie has to be responsible for controlling shots and Howard has never been good at it. It's his #1 weakness. Why can't he shoot lower? I was actually just wondering the same thing. I've seen him take three s***s this game and all have had to have nabby stand straight up to try to nab it. While i agree jimmy's rebounds need work, this was not his fault here. The puck changed directions at the last second and it was a hard shot. Almost any goalie in the league gives up a rebound on that.
