Wasn't it you who was calling out everyone playing in front of Howard for not clearing rebounds, well he did just that and it led directly to a goal. Absolutely not. When the guy skates into the offensive zone with the puck and makes a great shot, I'd tend to think they had a bit more of an impact on "the entire ******* play." Filppula made space for Cleary just as much as Lidstrom did. But Lidstrom is a complete player and Filppula is lost in the offensive zone. Yeah, obviously cleary had an awesome shot there, but that play doesn't happen if Flip is not on the ice. Count on it. You don't need to say anything negative about him for anyone to see how obviously biased you are against him. It's people like that that piss me off, obviously the guy doesn't like Flip, but for crying out loud, he has such a hater hard-on he won't even acknowledge that the last goal doesn't happen if Filppula doesn't clear the crease, and whether he skates down and buries it himself or passes to a temmate who nets it, it still wouldn't have happened but for his heads up defensive play and ability to hold on to the puck. He's a good player in his own way, I just think he's overpaid for what he provides for the Wings and I think for his money, I'd rather have another guy who can score more goals. It's as simple as that in terms of the bias. If we needed more defensive forwards, if that was a real problem for us, I'd have no problem with Flip and his $3 million/year contract. But we need goals. And again, I didn't say anything about him. I didn't even say much about Cleary. I brought up Lidstrom because everyone's been on his ass lately and he made a good play there that helped create a goal. It's Flips job to head into the zone no matter what. Lidstrom read the play and jumped up. Not every guy has that kind of vision. And not every legendary defenseman gets shat on day after day on message board lately... He did his job good enough and drove to the net, but Nick hopping up into the play is what made the mismatch, and then the idiot Dman laying out and Cleary's stickhandling did the rest.
