Here are the lines they practiced with, though Babcock said not to read anything into them, that he split up Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg just to get them skating through the middle of the ice.

Class got out just as I read that so I had to post that really quick. Here's what I think:

This line could work or not work for a few reasons. For one, they may be a little too cute out there. A lot of passing and and not enough shooting. However, this could force Fil to shoot more (which he desperately needs to do) and may do the same for Pav. Plus, Homer in front of the net will help.

I like how Babcock said not to read anything into. Everyone knows you have to read into everything he does because everything he does is calculated lol. Just like calling out Ozzy.

I'm not sure if we're gonna see this line tonight, but I'm definately going to keep an eye out for it.

I would rather see Bert with Dats than Homer. More of a triggerman and stronger on the puck than Tomas. And with Pavel and Val out there, he would be getting some sweet passes.

I REALLY liked his chemistry with Datsyuk last game, so I'm all for it... I just think they should have put another winger on that line that likes to shoot to make it truly effective, but as long as Dats and Fil SHOOT, this line should be great...

As soon as they separated Bert from Datsyuk the top line started looking weak...

I really liked Bert with Dats and think Fil would fit right in there... I also always thought Holmstrom looked more natural with Zetterberg than Dats(not that he was bad with Dats) so it makes more sense to me to put Holmer with Z on that scale too...

I'd love to see

Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

Filppula-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi

Like you guys said if Dats starts pulling the trigger then this could work out....Fil is never gonna be a shoot-first guy so for all of those out there who are waiting to see him blossom into much more of a goal scorer, i think you should keep looking. I think Fil isn't necessarily being used the most effective way possible, he is more of a mini-Thornton..stick him with some shooters and he will be all set. When Franzen comes back i wouldn't mind seeing

Z-Dats-Homer

Franzen-Fil-Bertuzzi

I think that would be our most effective top 2 lines based on our roster

The Bertuzzi/Datsyuk/Holmstrom line was playing with great chemistry.

It makes no sense to take Bertuzzi away from Datsyuk, since he's been useless the last few games without Pavel on his line.

to add to that - both Fil and Dats are pass first, shoot second kind of guys... Bert isn't afraid to fire it and would have been a great addition to that line imo...

This is the line that played in the spring of '07 when Zetterberg was injured; you'll all recall that the other line was Calder - Lang - Hudler.

Kinda of think it's a good idea to split up dats and Z, it seems to work a bit against PITS.

when Franzen returns, Zetterberg + Franzen = Win.

I have always said this... your right, Z and Dats on separate lines create more depth for the team... Putting them together is pointless, really, because they don't produce enough to make it worth while. When apart, we have two solid lines with two world-class centers... If Z-Dats-Homer line produced like the Sedins or Thornton, Marleau, and Heatly, then yeah, keep them together.... but they don't.
