Gnredwing 10 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 After losing Saturday to the Kings in a game which the Red Wings in no way should have lost being up 3-0, Tuesdays game vs the Blues has to be a must win. If the Wings lose vs the Blues I will be leaning more towards no playoffs this year. Get it done!

Jericho613 74 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 I said it earlier, The real Detroit Red Wings will show up against the blues and from here on out. Will they lose some games? Yes. But they will be damn near unstoppable in March and April. They will not miss the playoffs.

SDavis35 140 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Every game this week HAS to have a playoff mentality. We HAVE to at least keep even in points with Nashville at this point, then beat them in our games against them. However, I wouldn't be happy if we were just "keeping even" with playoff position teams. Go Get 'em Wings!

Carman 387 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 The Wings have had like 7 must win games already. Blues played like crap. Mason especially, although if Conklin plays verse the Wings he is getting a shut out.
MTU_Huskies963 398 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 A lot of fans are getting anxious looking at who is ahead of us. We have to start worrying about who is behind us. The Ducks are pulling back into a playoff spot like they do every year. Dallas and Minny are close too.
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Nashville realistically is the only team we can pass. Calgary will step up eventually. This game is a must win.

The whole "must-win" games thing has been in effect for some time now and it has mattered squat in the Wings ability to win. And not only do they lose games they have to win and should win, they are losing games they have all but won in spectacularly horrible ways. Either Babcock starts kicking people in the ass or we are f***ed. Much as I like Babcock, he hasn't coached the team well in my opinion this season, too much of this "played good enough to win" and "keep doing what you're doing" bulls*** that worked best when the team was in a slump but still first in the division. And don't even get me started about how we are riding a young rookie goaltender who is looking very mortal because we have no other choice after benching our 37 year old starter for most of the season. And "verse" isn't ever a substitute of "versus" , but yeah, shut out used to be a rare instance in Detroit, now its a possibility every night. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) Every game is a must win game now. I just don't know how to cheer for this team anymore. Technically a fan is supposed to get excited when his team goes up by 2 or 3 goals, but we can't do that anymore because the team blows so many leads. Obviously, when we go down 2 or 3 goals, a fan isn't going to be happy either. This team is just so damn frustrating to cheer for right now. Whenever they are up by 2 goals with about 5 minutes left in the game I used to feel confident, now I just wait to see how bad they s*** the bed and whether they'll lose in OT or shootout. I've completely learned to hate the shootout. Chances are if we're there, Pav might score and everyone else will just blow a shot or deke while our goaltender stands perfectly still and gets beat with every shot.
