Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) Gibberish? Wow. You really evade when you are completely wrong. One post in this entire 3 page thread can be construed as some resemblance of a whine. You'd think it was 3 pages of how Team USA is going to get screwed over by these Canadian refs if you listened to the Canadian posters in here. Yes, you would think that if you couldn't ******* read. But, I am hoping the average person here CAN read, and CAN understand that both 'whine' related comments were in direct response to the OP of this thread and not the subsequent comments. There is absolutely no conversation in this thread that aren't directly regarding the creation of the thread itself about whining. Well, except for feigned indignation that is, I suppose, but thats your modus operandi, no? Edited February 28, 2010 by Serapth

There is absolutely no conversation in this thread that aren't directly regarding the creation of the thread itself about whining. Well, except for feigned indignation that is, I suppose, but thats your modus operandi, no? This would make sense, if anyone did whine. Are we reading the same thread? Do you read on a higher level that allows you to read the thoughts of the poster and understand more? First you claim whining and now you change your tune to whine related. Could you backtrack any harder? What's next? Comments that are potentially but not really whines but may be classified as whines if you read them upside down on your head? The conversation in this thread was about how the ref situation will not matter, how O'Halloran sucks and then it turned into another USA vs Canada debate. But by all means, continue to be wrong. clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 Given olympic history of controversy and the sorry state of NHL officaiting, I'm not sure how this OP can be construed as whine, but maybe, just maybe a legit concern? As an NHL fan I've watched the s*** that passes as refing in the NHL by mostly canadien refs.

Wow, you really are the Karl Rove of the internet world aren't you? Your last comment was about the Canadian(s) >> note plural, classic Rovian tactic, condemn the group for the actions of a few, or in your case, none <<, actually, you've learned the lesson extremely well and know the key is to stay on message and repeat the message again and again, no matter how unfounded it may actually be. Case in point: I had trouble finding all of this whining that the Canadian posters are talking about. You'd think it was 3 pages of how Team USA is going to get screwed over by these Canadian refs if you listened to the Canadian posters in here. You learned the initial tactics of intimidation debating quite well, pick an enemy and stay on topic, repeating your rant, no matter how maligned it may be. Unfortunatly, the substance of your argument is weak and contradictory... The OP may be whining but no one else has. Saying the OP may be a whine, which it really isn't, is now a validation that it is a whine? This would make sense, if anyone did whine. But hey, in the face of your own bulls*** and contradiction continue to be "that guy", its ok, I really don't care. I have noticed as a trend you tend to argue from a point of belligerence and that s*** may work with some people, but I am perfectly willing to take the time to disect your arguments to illustrate exactly what they are. Do me a favour in the future and actually quote comments you are attributing to me.

Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 28, 2010 Wow, you really are the Karl Rove of the internet world aren't you? Your last comment was about the Canadian(s) >> note plural, classic Rovian tactic, condemn the group for the actions of a few, or in your case, none <<, actually, you've learned the lesson extremely well and know the key is to stay on message and repeat the message again and again, no matter how unfounded it may actually be. Could you be more wrong again? More than one poster from Canada complained of whining hence the use of a plural. Any other interpretation you would like to provide is fine, but you are reaching and searching for something that isn't there. It helps to read before posting. Don't even try to turn this into some sort of political debate. There is a forum for that. Take that garbage there. Case in point: You learned the initial tactics of intimidation debating quite well, pick an enemy and stay on topic, repeating your rant, no matter how maligned it may be. Unfortunatly, the substance of your argument is weak and contradictory... The substance of my argument is backed up by this very thread. Your argument of "stacking up excuses" is non-existent. I'd call my argument wrong too if the one I presented was pulled out of thin air and backed up by no factual evidence. I love how you went from arguing about the actual issue to scolding me for using "intimidating" tactics of debate. That is a classic defensive mechanism for people that have lost their initial argument and are just looking to pick a fight. My statements are in no way contradictory. I initially used language that allowed me to form a solid opinion of the original post. I then formed that opinion and used the appropriate language. Nothing contradictory there. I've also noticed a trend in your posting, you are constantly wrong and called out for being so. Maybe you could get away with this stuff on that Flames board, but not here. I'm not trying to intimidate you nor am I trying to intimidate anyone. You may present me as a belligerent, but the exact opposite is true. You are the one being belligerent for being proven wrong at which point you then take to ignoring the initial premise of the argument and presenting false information. lightthelamp13 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 this thread is so jokes. you'd think people forgot where they are posting. We are all Red Wings fans here, so why the hell was the last time a Canadian team won the cup brought into this? And because Steve Yzerman, the walking image of what Canadian hockey is all about, plays on an American based team, we can't like them? people need to relax. Americans like their country for reasons, we like ours for our own. the conclusion to this Olympics is bittersweet. The total number of medals vs the traditional "Most Golds" as First place. USA vs. Canada. And to top it all off, Canada can set a new single Olympics gold record with a win over.....you guessed it, the United States, in Canada's own national sport. Beauty. Lets get at er. ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 So wait, just because three of the refs in this game are Canadian, this thread turns into a Canada-bashing thread? The US is bigger. That means you have a much, much bigger pool of athletes to draw from and more funding for your training. That Canada has 25 medals (at this point) when we're a much smaller country is impressive, that can't be denied. But if you guys want to rub the fact that you're winning in our faces, that's fine. You probably rubbed it in your 8-year-old brother's face when you beat him in a wrestling match, too.

Mostly because that is the official name of the university and there can only be one. Honestly, all the Red Wings should refer to themselves as a player for the THE Detroit Red Wings. Because when you're a Red Wing, you deserve to be proud. I liken it to the most interesting man in the universe. May all the UM students and alum follow me with pure lies and insults.... And my brother is older, so I mostly beat up toddlers. Their comebacks are usually pretty weak.

It was actually a Canadian poster that started all of this. And no, we do not fund our athletes more. If you had read earlier posts, you would see that Canada actually spent twice the amount the United States has supporting our olympic athletes. It's getting really old when Canadian posters start the trouble, then American posters defend ourselves and our country, then other Canadian posters come on and act like we're the big bad bullies. Try looking at your fellow countrymen. Or better yet, call them out when you see that sort of behavior. Maybe they will tone it down if they're called out by fellow Canadians. Cause this has been a constant thing basically since the olympics started. And like I said, it's getting really old.

Also, while the US has a larger population that Canada this doesn't not necessarily make the pool of winter athletes larger. Winter sports are not nearly as popular in the US as they are in Canada. Half of the US doesn't see snow in the winter months. As noted in an above post, it was a Canadian that brought up the topic of winning as related to medal counts. So in fact, it was a Canadian rubbing winning in the face of the Americans. Edited February 28, 2010 by Howard He Do It?!
Nhurdi 42 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 I can't wait for this all to be done and over with so we can get back to just bickering about the redwings and s*** instead of my country vs your country.
