Pierre's thoughts during commercial breaks

Horrible announcer.

Way too 'look at meeeee, I'm sitting beside NHL players. They're my friends ...." ALL GAME LONG. Every game he's involved in.

As for tonight, he mentioned 4 Coyote players and their history, teams, where they're born, and I believe even what their favorite kind of toilet paper is. SMH. He went on to say the Coyotes are gonna make everyone believers. The Coyotes had a great year. The Coyotes are big, strong. Blah blah f***in blah ....

The Sharks.

Then the Pens.

Now the Coyotes.

Bias has NO place in play by play broadcast but it's not like we ain't used to this nonsense. We let these knowitalls talk and talk and talk their 'expert' predictions .... while Zata owns Sissy Crosby and we win Cups.

Go Wings!!!

The Wings are old? Aren't they like a year older on average than the Coyotes or something?

Sports people get way too caught up on age. Age has less to do with anything than skill level. For instance, Bertuzzi is said to be declining at 34ish. Yet Lidstrom is playing at a high level despite being 40ish.

Chelios played at a high level into his 40s. Yet we have athletes retiring when they are in their mid-thirties.

I was watching a similar thing where it had the announcers talking during the commercials and Larry Murphy told the announcer at ice level to, "say some mumbo jumbo about how the team is in it to win it, but will have to battle hard through some adversity in the third"... then the commercial break ended, and the other guy said the exact thing with so much flair and an eyebrow raise. It made me believe it. Was pretty funny.

I am lost here...You have the TSN feed during the commericals and intermissions? how? In todays world i am shocked this is available, i wonder if they know about these feeds, cause i would love to see PM say something so stupid(more then usual) that would get him off the air. He is so horrible, thinks he is the hockey god, that knows all and see's all. Because we all know, with out him the Pens wouldn't have won anything.

What's hilarious about it.. that Everyone should automatically know that Telephone is sung by Lady Gaga?

I'm with you on that one, babe. I'm Pierre's age and have no idea what the song is.

For those of you who like to hear what they do behind the scenes during commercial breaks, this has been happening all season long, and the second half of the previous season (I don't know about before that, I never watched these feeds). I'm sure it'll be happening next season too. All you have to do, is watch the player cams on nhl.com on Sundays. Those cams that will follow the star of each team. 95% of the time 1 of the 2 cams will be the feed where they don't turn the commentator's mics off.

I was sorta thinking the same thing. I would not know Lady Gaga if I saw her, never heard the song, and not sure I could tell Beyonce if I saw her or heard her, although I do recall thinking she was hot.(I'm just not into pop culture) I guess you had to be there.

Good thread, none the less.

Now that ya'll mention it...Speaking of McGuire it's not the first time he asks a question about a song that is played, and when he put that really curious voice on he does sound like a fruitcake tbh

This is the most annoying thing that Pierre does IMO.

I wonder if he's self aware of all the hate throughout the league for him.

I don't think he cares to be honest. Give me his job and you can curse at me all you want. No hard feelings! :P

I love how he always goes to Gord Miller something like: "Hey, Gord, remember when we were in Aajadkjakijjakkak, Iceland in 1997 for the under-13 European C Championships and this guy Marek Liechtenstein from Lithuania was EVERYwhere on the ice? He's really blossomed under the great coaching staff here and credit to (some random 80 year old front office guy) for hiring the right guys to draft him."

And Gord is like mumbling to himself, "No, Pierre. Nobody on earth remembers that."

I think I've had enough of Pierre. Last night was just a gong show with his "Phoenix reminds me of the 2006 Edmonton Oilers", and "Phoenix has an excellent defensive system going" when Detroit was out shooting the Coyotes 11-6 at the time. I found the first 5 minutes of the game and all his man love and a hard on for Phoenix very unprofessional and water coolerish. I expect more from people who get paid to analyze games.

That clown should have just showed up in a cheer leading outfit with a Coyotes logo on it and pom poms. Personally I think he lowers the quality of the broadcast with his comments and yelling. I have no idea what TSN and NBC see in him. He's better suited for WWE than the NHL.

As much as I'd want to watch Ovechkin tonight, I'm going to pass because Pierre is between the benches. I'll check out Buffalo-Boston on CBC instead and see the Habs-Caps highlights on The Score. It probably won't do any good, but I'm going to let TSN know I have no interest in hearing Pierre's opinions anymore.
