LeftWinger 5,131 Report post Posted June 9, 2010 This is good news, he didn't work out the first time, and (unfortunate of his injury) he didn't work out this time. I assume they wanted hi for his powerplay skills, but it just never worked. I am glad it was only a 1 year deal.
13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 I feel a little bad for Williams (just a little) because this time around he had A LOT of bad luck. Unfortunately for him the little time he was here he showed very, very small amounts of great hockey with many, many amounts of WTF are you doing. (did ANYONE think he was getting signed anyway?) Swayze 81 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 Confirmation = Awesome. Glad that softy is gone. Didn't want him gone the first time, but definitely didn't want him back.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 Last year Columbus didn't even want him back. Apparently nobody else wanted him but Kenny.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 This one is on Kenny. He never should have brought him back in the first place. I wonder if he'll join Lebda in the KHL, or if some other NHL team will try to sign him.
cjm502 165 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) This one is on Kenny. He never should have brought him back in the first place. I wonder if he'll join Lebda in the KHL, or if some other NHL team will try to sign him. We can see it did not work out now, but he was excellent with the Jackets the previous year. There was no clear indicators he would suck as bad as he did with us. If J Willy kept his play at the level it was at with the Jackets it would have been a great signing, but he blew it. 1000th post, js. henrik40 76 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 For a second I thought this thread was a joke. Then I realized it was just confirming what we all already knew.

But he did nothing for us the first time around, and didn't really bring anything that we needed. That whole right handed shot on the PP crap is overrated anyway. I wasn't surprised that it didn't work out well.

That whole right handed shot on the PP crap is overrated anyway. I wasn't surprised that it didn't work out well. We needed scoring and if anything he was expected replace some of the offense we lost the previous off season. I'm not real shocked he did not do crap here either, and im delighted he is gone. As for the right handed shot on the PP, it does not make that much of a difference. It certainty did not work for J Willy.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 No shocker there. Williams and Lebda have been confirmed as no-goes. I'm a bit worried about Lilja but I think that's all dependent on what happens with Bertuzzi. If Holland doesn't hear back from Bert soon I wouldn't be shocked to see him re-sign Lilja cheap and just wait on Bert. I'm not terribly worried about Bert anyway... I'd like to see the Wings get younger if they can so unless Bert is willing to sign cheaply or at least reasonably they might as well try and get a younger player who can provide the same thing.
