Carman 387 Report post Posted June 18, 2010 My original comment meant that his value isn't going to be higher. The odds of him living up to what he did in the playoffs is not very high. I'm coming off a 12 hour shift, I'm surprised you even got that far in my rambling haha.
cprice12 117 Report post Posted June 18, 2010 Very, very happy with this trade. Eller could turn into a pretty good forward, but he's not there yet..and he's unproven at the NHL level. St. Louis may have just solved their goaltending concerns for quite some time if Halak is the real deal. He's only 25. I'd trade a decent unproven forward prospect for a young goaltender with NHL experience and great numbers any day of the week. Great goaltenders are hard to acquire, and great young goaltenders? Forget about it. Time will tell with this trade. Is Halak a flash in the pan? Will Eller be a superstar? Who knows...but RIGHT NOW, the Blues easily come out as the winners in this trade. Bring on training camp!

Guest mindfly Report post Posted June 18, 2010 He is a RFA. He hasn't signed an extension with the Blues yet. When is he going to do that? is there a deadline?
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted June 18, 2010 When is he going to do that? is there a deadline? Not actually sure, but if they can't work anything out with his agent they can take him to arbitration and get a one-year deal guaranteed. Of course, that means the season after he can become a UFA. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 18, 2010 When is he going to do that? is there a deadline? Only for qualifying offers, hence the little 'mixup' in Chicago last year. Well, I suppose there is a deadline for the Blues to sign Halak before he becomes a UFA. Of course that's next summer IIRC, so don't count on Halak being a UFA anytime soon. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted June 19, 2010 Blues win this trade. Price as your number 1 after the playoff that Halak had? I weep for you, Habs. (not really.) 2 Original-Six and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted July 4, 2010 Now that Mason is in Atlanta, looks like the Blues are gonna be holding on to Halak. Unless he decides to put them in a real bind and go elsewhere.
