Other than those 3 seasons with 20+ its really not that bad. Around average.

Exactly. Listing a bunch of 1 game injuries doesn't really mean much. It would have been better to do a total games lost due to injury per season rather than individual injury.

And it won't get better with him getting older.

I'm sure if it does not work out they won't resign him.

I still find it quite hilarious that a lot of Flyers fans really think that Leino will be a better contributor then Gagne was... I really think Flyer fans are really starting to reach here lol...

And im sure a lot of Wings fans never imagined Lenio would go on to put up a Conn Smythe type playoff run and reach the cup finals when he was traded to Philly. You never know.

BTW Leino actually was a bigger contributor than Gagne in their playoff run.

Did the Flyers really need another tough guy?

I like Walker and I'd love for us to have a physical D-man like that, but this is a horrible trade for the Flyers and a rather embarassing one.

Don't you think that missing 20+ games in 3 seasons out of 10 is pretty bad? Here is a summary of his 10 years in the league:

Years missing 3 games or less - 4

Years missing 6-13 games - 3

Years missing 24+ games - 3

Exactly. Listing a bunch of 1 game injuries doesn't really mean much. It would have been better to do a total games lost due to injury per season rather than individual injury.

On average, he's missed 16 games per season. 6 out of his 10 years in the league he's missed at least 6 games, 5 out of 10 he's missed at least 10 games.

Not saying he's going to continue to miss more, but to suggest he's injury prone is certainly not a stretch.

... and what's funny part (or sad) is that he (Gagné) still played more games than Kronwall or Franzen ...

Kronwalls injury report since 2005 is pretty horrible to read as well :(

Franzens injury report is BAD as well... :(

Guest mindfly

I only remember his latest 55game absense from that torn acl, other than that just that weird concussion, a 10game knee injury earlier in his career then just a few 1-5games injury periods... you dont notice them as much

According to this article Wings were interested in Gagne.

Surprisingly, the Detroit Red Wings had expressed interest and wanted to add Gagne, but with less than $4 million in cap space, the idea of joining one of the most successful franchises in hockey didn’t seem too appealing. The same can be said for his hometown Montreal Canadiens.

Ironically, it was conversations with former Red Wing and Tampa GM Steve Yzerman sold him on the idea that he could become part of the Lightning’s rebuilding process, and Gagne feels they are a playoff team that will only get better.
