Osgood to get the start in Dallas

Yes the team was bad, but Osgood isn't bringing much to the table. Here is the line from the AP wire story:

"The Stars scored on four of their first nine shots against a struggling Chris Osgood, who made 11 saves for Detroit (2-1-1)."

This is the same goalie that had an .888 save percentage on a playoff team last year. Ever wonder why he never gets the "lucky break" and have the puck hit him? Because he is small, usually too deep in his net and can't see over or around players. Even his pads are too small. Osgood is a 1980's style goalie playing in 2010, and his best asset in the past - his quickness and lateral movement - is pretty much gone. Sorry but he is as "Done as Dinner".

Where were you when Osgood was in Chicago? Seriously.

Also "too deep in his net" is the last description you should give Osgood. If anything he is way too far out of hi net.

Howard wouldnt have let in 4 goals on only 16 SHOTS TONIGHT.

People on here always say the team doesn't play good infront of osgood and blame the team but he always seems to let in a goal he shouldn't and take all the wind out of the teams sail. Its hard to play hard when youre down 4 goals and the other team has only had 10 shots or something.

First goal deflected off Salei from the low slot. Almost impossible to stop.

Second goal was a cross-ice pass that hit Brad Stuart's skate IN THE CREASE and went in. Why the hell was he even IN the crease?

Fourth goal Stuart decided to kick the puck to James Neal in front of the net instead of covering him.

Blame Osgood all you want, most goalies stop none of those, few goalies stop even one, and only the best stop two. I'd tell you to keep your commentary for times when you actually know what you're talking about... but then your post count would stay the same forever.

Ozzie didn't play good, but neither did the entire team. Z? Dats? never injured Franzen? Stewie? Yet in hockeytown its still the same old song and dance, f*** our goalies.

It was a bulls*** game from everyone, but knowing the redwings, they'll be alright. Dats and Z will get going soon, it always take Pavel a a couple weeks into the season to truly get going.

I'll start with saying I'm not blaming Ozzy for losing the game last night. However...

For someone trying to prove that he belongs on the team, and prove that last year really was just a bad year, he really isn't doing very well.

A 4.01 GAA and .733 SV% is not how one goes about proving worth. Even if it's only his second game.

11 for 15 is ridiculous.

In my opinion, at this point you guys are just making excuses for him.

...and yes, I DID watch the game.

If you think an all star defense is necessary for a NHL goaltender to perform his job properly, you need to watch some other teams.

There's a huge difference between an all star defense and a defense that essentially sabotages the goalie like last night. You really expect any goalie to have an answer for some of those goals??? I suppose he should've stopped that incredibly fluky goal off of Stuarts skate even, right? Where were you after the Chicago game?

After s***cago I was stunned and amazed that he didn't let in his standard goal per period. He hasn't had a shutout in nearly a year (Nov 9 2009).

Wow. A good game for Ozzie is an anomaly but when team defense lets him down it's all his fault and par for the course. Your opinion on Ozzie is getting in the way of the facts.

So forgetting history, a 3.01GAA / .860SV% is what you want in goal?

Two games buddy. It's been two games. That's not nearly enough games to judge how this season is going to play out for Osgood.

Is two games your only defense/answer? It's been a YEAR of crap play.

Is last year your only argument? At least I'm backing mine up.

Ozzie hasn't shown any crap play this season and he is going to play just as bad as he did last season. How does this make any sense at all?

LOL

Get back to me at the end of November on this matter.

Don't you understand? 2 games is a sufficient enough sample size to call this a s*** season for Ozzie. :hehe:

I'll go with a career on Osgood and give him the benefit of the doubt and I'll give Howard more time to prove himself as it's his second year. I'm not worried about either of our goalies at all. Our defense is far more worrisome than our goalies.
