cprice12 117 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 The reality of the present is that your team won't be relevant until they do something after April 9. Not relevant until we win something. Got it. But I hate to break it to you, but I wasn't saying anything other than I was excited about the Blues hot start and I am looking forward to how they play the rest of the season. I haven't claimed the Blues are going to win anything...yet. it´s early november! Let´s see where they are in april. I would like to see them play the wings in the playoffs. Nothing would make me happier. Whatever happened to Paul Kariya? He's sitting out this season due to post-concussion syndrome. He should probably just retire. He came in here and gave his tams props and said what his team needed to work on and then all the shots at the Blues came after Shore opened the flood gates. He wasn't combative or hostile or anything until he was provoked. Obviously the Wings are on another, but why the petty pop shots? if you're insecure or threatened by the Blues, why show it? "ZOMG, we have teh cups more than youz. You are teh suckzor." You have been awarded 10 forum points. 1 Vladifan reacted to this
RememberStevieY 5 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 I see where you're coming from cprice, you have a right to be excited. I have no problem with the Blues, good luck to them this season. I wished the wings would of picked up Halak, seeing what he did to Caps and Pens was nice. Especially because I really hate crybaby crosby. 2 Vladifan and Konnan511 reacted to this
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) I'm aware, but still, pretty silly considering you are basing your joke off of around 10 games. Didn't know 2008 was history, and that the 20 years of success the Wings have had is snuffed out by a hot start. Thanks for letting me know. The "Who?" part of his first post.. Who? .. in response to "they haven't played the Wings yet" says it all. I remember the Blues last super decent season was after the Wings won their second of back to back cups, where Pronger won Norris and the Blues ran away with the President's trophy. Of course, they lost to the 8th seed Sharks in the 1st round. Speaking of the Sharks, it's common for their fans to get their heads blown up after a fast start or even a high place standing during the season. I guess when your team has nothing, well, look at the image of that guy in the desert. If your team sucks you tend to hate better teams than yours, and are forced to have a very very short term memory? Red Wings won a cup 2 years and 5 months ago? WHO DAT? Blues fans were watching their team begin their postseason taking note of their golf scores being outside the playoffs and watching the Wings play a horrible season by their own two-decade standard only to make the playoffs yet again.. but that was like 500 years ago! 7 months to be exact. Stop living in the past. If the season ended today the Blues would be in a 4 way tie for the President's Trophy woohoo! 12 games into a 82 game regular season and 1st place!! Wings who?! Guest mindfly Report post Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) And I'd have won the lottery if I had picked the right numbers. What's your point? It was nothing against the blues really, just the fact that every team in the league could have gotten him as montreal only demanded a high end prospect + a random player to release halak, and 3.5M a year for a elite goalie is well worth the money... Just wish detroit could have made a move as well... Edited November 8, 2010 by mindfly
Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 Well, just let me know how many games the Blues need to play before jokes are acceptable to you. I never said jokes weren't acceptable. I am saying your joke was pretty awful considering the amount of noteriety the Wings receive in comparison. A valiant effort, but quite silly. You didn't? It was three cup finals ago...I'd say that's history. Do you want me to congratulate the Wings for their 2008 cup?Congrats. Better? Never asked for your congrats, just pointing out the brutal irony in a Blues fan saying "who" in response to someone mentioning the Wings. Good show. Eh?When did I snuff out the Wings 20 year history? I'm just don't care. I'm kinda happy about the Blues nice start THIS SEASON...not sure why I would care about something the Wings did 20 years ago in a thread started by a Wings fan that is about the Blues hot start THIS SEASON. If you are going to make a joke poking fun at a specific team then yeah I think how the team has performed is relevant to think about. Dude...don't make too much out of a joke. It's funny because the Wings have been successful...take it as a compliment and move on. I have to explain this?? Hey, I didn't freak out or call you an *******. Just thought your joke was silly in its irony.

Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 I thought the Red Wings were the ones wearing red jerseys in this video: I find it funny your best response is a clip from 19 years ago. Not to mention 1998 and 2002.
cprice12 117 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 I find it funny your best response is a clip from 19 years ago. Not to mention 1998 and 2002. I guess you missed the clip from 13 years ago that was already posted (that you pretty much reposted), which is why I posted the 19 year old clip. But I guess the cutoff for age of clips to be used in a discussion is conveniently 13 years. Sucks for me I guess. Speaking of funny things... I find it funny how a thread (started by a Wings fan btw) that was about the Blues hot start and how well Halak is playing quickly turned into a thread about how many cups the Wings have, how few cups the Blues have, how great the Wings have been for the past 15 years and how much better the Wings have been than the Blues. Blues fans aren't the ones with the inferiority complex. 1 55fan reacted to this

Wings fans have been reaping the benefits of a great franchise for years. I don't see any inferiority complexes here. Just responses to a little quip of yours. For the record, the Blues are the only Central team I don't hate. It's fun to watch them play and I am looking forward to seeing how Johnson develops as a defenseman. Vladifan 680 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 Those paying attention to the Blues could see this coming over the past couple seasons...and then they added Halak without losing anyone from their NHL roster, which instantly made them significantly better. Great goaltending...solid system on defense...great transition game. And they just won in Boston and beat the Rangers in NY in back to back nights without their best offensive threat (Perron) and half of their defensive corps (Polak, Carlo, Jackman)...all our out with injuries. Really, the only thing they need to work on is the power play, which has been pretty bad. If they could get that on track a bit, they'd be dominant. Davis Payne has done a great job since taking over last year. They've won 12 games in a row at home dating back to last season and of course are 9-1-2 so far this year, and currently #1 overall in the NHL. Blues teams have always been known for working their asses off...and this team is no different. They work hard, and it is paying off. Hard work doesn't go into a slump. But I can't see them keeping up this pace without either the power play improving, or them scoring more 5 on 5 goals. They can't keep winning games 1-0 and 2-1...or at least I don't think they can. Who? Breaks my heart hearing that Jackman is out. My very favorite cheapshot-after-the-whistle hero. Somebody got him back, I'm hoping. However, kudos to your team for the time being. However, kudos to your team for the time being. cprice12 117 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 Montreal are idiots. That's why St Louis are doing so well. Or...a handful of other teams are idiots as well for not besting the Blues offer. If that's the best offer Montreal got, then shame on the other teams. It's still a small sample size with Halak, but so far so great.
cprice12 117 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 I never said that. I only found it funny that your most recent playoff series victory against Detroit happened 19 years ago, which since then the Wings have beaten you 4 times. I found it funny that the clip that was posted initially was from 13 years ago. So...THAT'S the best YOU'VE got? (or whoever posted it) If you're going to knock my 19 year old clip, the 13 year old clip needs to be knocked too. You can't pick and choose...well, I guess you can because you just did...but I don't have to like it. Besides, what goes around, comes around. The Blues dominated Detroit for years. So much so that even after 15 years of dominance by Detroit over St. Louis, the Blues STILL have a winning record all-time vs. the Wings. However, the Wings no longer seem to have the Blues' number and, correct me if I am wrong, but St. Louis has won the season series against Detroit the past two years. Now the Blues just have to come out on top in a playoff series against the Wings...they're due. I simply responded yo your "who" comment. If you hadn't made that I wouldn't have even mentioned the Wings. And for the 10th time...it was a joke. In other words, not to be taken seriously. And if you think about it, it is a backhanded compliment...so just roll with it. Wings fans have been reaping the benefits of a great franchise for years. I don't see any inferiority complexes here. Just responses to a little quip of yours. I make a one word joke and the comments flood about the number of cups this and the number of cups that. Nah...no inferiority complex here. Carry on...nothing to see here. For the record, the Blues are the only Central team I don't hate. It's fun to watch them play and I am looking forward to seeing how Johnson develops as a defenseman. Stop it...you're killing the vibe we have going.

You can't pick and choose...well, I guess you can because you just did...but I don't have to like it. My point was the last time the Blues have actually made waves against Detroit was 19 years back. Detroit hasn't played the Blues since 2002 when they were able to beat them in five. Besides, what goes around, comes around. The Blues dominated Detroit for years. That is correct. I don't worry too much about season series's. Detroit beat San Jose more often than not last season and got beat in 5. Now the Blues just have to come out on top in a playoff series against the Wings...they're due. At least you don't have the coach Q curse anymore. Stop it...you're killing the vibe we have going. I calls it how i sees it. I'm not going to pretend I have some inside hatred of the Blues and I hope their entire team dies in a fiery bus crash or something. Bluenote#24 18 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 Colorado started last season 10-1-2 in their first 13 games, finished 3-7-3 in their last 13. Streaks happen. Interesting point, but Colorado won most of these games on the strength of their PP and they were miserably outshot during that string of games. Trust me the lack of scoring on the PP is a hugh concern. Looking forward to many spirited battles this year with the wings.
