That just pisses me off. I mean why the hell can't the NHL get this s*** right? The replay clearly showed that the puck was in and the goalie never froze it. But OH NO, the ref blew the whistle because he couldn't see the puck. Who the hell cares about the whistle? Ref couldn't see it, replay shows it was a goal so the result is - no goal!

In football, this is similar to a catch or an incomplete. They review it and if the replay clearly shows that the ref missed the call it gets reversed. Why the frick can't they do this in hockey?

The rules state that if the ref loses sight of the puck, he should immediately blow the whistle. Maybe this will change in the future, but this is the rule right now. Whether the replay shows it was in or not, if the whistle was blown it's not a goal. Same as in football, if the replay doesn't clearly show what happened, and the ref had ruled that the defense recovered a fumble, then the defense gets the ball. Even if the linebacker ripped the ball out of the halfback's hands at the bottom of the pile.

Rules are rules, you follow them as they are until they change to new ones or are removed.

As for Hudler, yes he was slow to get back. But at least he was actually trying to get back, unlike Franzen the other night. And the final score was 5-2, so that goal had far less impact that the overtime goal where Franzen f***ed up his backcheck. Hudler HAS been effective on the point so far, he is not perfect. Yes he screwed up, but even Lidstrom screws up. See the goals in the LA game for examples.

Apples and oranges.

Hudler's new on the point, yes, but he is getting on thinner ice every game he does little or nothing out there, even with not a 100% completely healtht roster. And if he's been productive on the point so far, Jason Williams' productivity on the point blows Hudler's out the water.

The excuses for him are running out, and fast.

I know that it is the rule, but the rule sucks. If everybody complains about them enough, MAYBE they will get changed. As far as the outcome of the game, if that was ruled a goal, it changes the momentum of the game. Suddenly it's 2-0 and maybe the Sharks feel a little worse about themselves and the Wings feel a little better.

Momentum is huge in hockey so who knows what would have happened.

I refuse to believe that anybody could be THIS stubborn. Seriously, this has to be a sick joke. Are you really resorting to throwing Franzen and Lidstrom under the bus in order to exonerate Hudler? Hudler has been effective in that he is a body one the ice that the other team has to keep in their peripherals. That's all.

How about comparing all of the above after Hudler actually contributes something besides secondary assists. Lidstrom is playing Norris trophy D and you have him eating out of the same trough as Hudler. What a joke.

Franzen did make a weird hesitation, but there was no way he was catching Martinez anyway. That kid has wheels and was long gone. Pointing out one uncharacteristic mistake by Lidstrom does not somehow wipe away the 22 s***ty games by Hudler. Sorry, if I'm being fair they weren't all s***ty. They varied somewhere between invisible and s***ty.

And how exactly has Hudler been effective on the point? With his cannon slap shot? Yes he keeps the puck in most of the time, but he rarely contributes to the offense from that position. That I don't even really hold against him because it completely doesn't play to his strengths to be on the point for the PP.

C'mon Eva. You're pointing out one f***up by Lidstrom and Franzen. Its a little desperate. No one is sure exactly why, but it's impossible to deny that Hudler has been a major disappointment so far this season.

The thing that pissed me off most about this game (besides they got dummied when I had 6th row tickets :ranting: )was the very end of the game.

Okay I know a lot of people on here are gonna ***** and complain and say we are a classy team blah blah blah but I dont care.

At the end of the game, infront of your own hometown after you get beat pretty good the other team should not be sending their 4th liners out there to give you s*** after a big loss.

Seriously after a big loss like that in your own barn, 5'9 Scott Nichol should not be hacking and whacking at you and Douglas Murray shouldn't be chasing the team around the ice. The wings shoulda been doing it to them to show that they aren't gonna come in here and make the wings run off with their tails between their legs.

Theres a point where theres class, but that showing was just plain old no back bone. I was disappointed to see it.. What would Probert say about that?
