Rough year for Quincey.

Ya, to say the least. However, Avalanche fans I know are actually quite happy that he's out for the year.

I think it's ironic that many people here hold Quincey in higher regard than do most Avalanche fans.

Yeah a few of my co-workers are Avs fans and they aren't happy with him. He hadn't played great leading up to the injury, and I guess they're relieved he's done for the year.

Hate to hear that! I thought Kyle was coming along great, hope he recovers well!

Coming along great? He was having an atrocious season in every way.

Has Quincey not had shoulder issues in the past?

I hope surgery and recuperation sorts it out for him permanently.

From Wikipedia:

Slated to make the Detroit roster after an impressive 13 game playoff performance, Kyle suffered a setback after suffering a broken hand in training camp resulting in missing the entire 2007–08 pre-season.[5] Quincey returned and played the majority of the year with Grand Rapids scoring 20 points in 66 games. He was used as an call-up from the Griffins in February to play 6 games for Detroit in the regular season.[6] During the 2008 playoffs, he was on the practice roster for the whole playoffs as the Red Wings captured the Stanley Cup. Although the Red Wings included him on the Stanley Cup winning picture, he was not awarded a Stanley Cup ring and did not qualify to be inscribed on the Stanley Cup.[7]

Going in to the 2008–09 season Quincey was re-signed to a two-year contract with the Red Wings on September 9, 2008.[8] Unable to crack the talent laden Red Wings and due to salary cap compliance issues, Kyle was placed and claimed off waivers on October 13, 2008, by the Los Angeles Kings.[9] Posting an assist in his Kings debut against the Carolina Hurricanes on October 17, 2008,[10] he quickly became an important part of a young Kings defensive corps, especially early in the season due to the injury of Jack Johnson, playing on the power play and penalty killing units.[11] He finished his breakthrough season leading the Kings defense in scoring with 34 assists and 38 points in 72 games before finally succumbing to a herniated disc on April 1, 2009.[12]

Many Avs-fans also hope that this will open up for rookie Jonas Holøs. Holøs played 20 mins+ the first 10/11 games, before being sent down to the Monsters in AHL. Stands with +5 after 13 games, while Kyle had -5 if Im not mistaken..

As a I know Jonas personally, I also hope this injury will give him a roster-spot in the NHL now. Tough on Kyle, but thats the game..

Yeah, you don't have a weird obsession with badmouthing Quincey at all.

I don't know why anyone would ever think that.

I hold infested dogs with higher regard than I do most Avalanche fans.

I think it's bizarre that you hardly fail to point out this issue within the first page of every Quincey thread. It evokes images of a sun-deprived teenager staring at a computer screen with their index finger hovering over the enter button. But that's just me.

Tough break for Quincey. But maybe a silver lining if he can use the time to get his head straight.
