Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Even though most fans won't admit it one should be able to see he's lost a step in the defensive zone this season but indeed it's really weird seeing a minus on him Edited December 27, 2010 by mindfly
Broken 16 381 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) He's old? It is very odd seeing that. I honestly don't get it... is he really on the ice for THAT MANY goals? I know that special teams points don't go towards +/-. But still. Edited December 27, 2010 by Broken

titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Like I said in the other Perfect Human thread I think he really started to rack up the minuses once the Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi line seemed to slump defensively.

I know that special teams points don't go towards +/-. But still. The thing that alarms me about this, was that he was a +11 or something about 6 weeks ago or so... I didn't see anyone assigning any major value to the stat in this thread. Just people saying that it looks odd. wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Well something I have noticed, Nick does not seem to play nearly as much this year at the same time as Pavs and Hank... and for the past month or so it has been that line that has been getting most of the scoring done... so since Nick is mostly with the other lines that were slumping, it hurt his plus/minus. Another note, I hate the pairing of Nick and Stu... I would like to see Nick and Kronners because Stu is too slow to play with Nick imo...

Pav and Z have mostly been with Ericsson and Rafalski it seems. The Filppula line is streaky seems to be streaky as hell.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Babcock breaking up the defensive pairings had something to do with it. Obviously, Lidstrom and Stuart aren't working out well together. It was working extremely well for Stuart. After 20 games he had 2 goals and 8 assists, pace for 8-33-41, which would be his second best season offensively in his career. DanZ 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Lidstrom got an assist last night vs. Minnesota, right? On the Holmstrom goal? I don't understand why he didn't get a +1 then... Can someone please explain?

They've given up too many goals lately for a team with a great defense on paper.

He's being out performed by goons and stay at home defensemen.

No s***, soon passing the 100goal against mark... not good enough especially not now with the injuries.

I agree totally: while it's far from the most outrageous thing in the world, I was still shocked to notice it, too. Does anyone know, in reality, how much weight is placed on a player's plus/minus statistic for the actual Norris voting?

Does anyone know, in reality, how much weight is placed on a player's plus/minus statistic for the actual Norris voting? Very little, from what I understand. Most sports writers that are voting on it are actually watching games, not just looking at a stat sheet (though it may seem like it with Green's nominations in the past).
