At least we got a point out of that. I can't believe there was no call when Franzen was slashed and his stick shatterd. That was a horrbile missed call. Ohh well what can you do. GO WINGS & Happy New Year to all my fellow Red Wing fans. Cheers!!!

And O'Halloran was looking right at Franzen when it happened - probably waiting to wave off a goal for interference if we scored.

I pity anyone who cries about only getting seven of eight points on a stretch that saw the Wings play four games in six nights.

I absolutely agree. Rare occasion that I agree with you, I know, but I agree none the less.

I might as well say this now, wings will get rocked by flyers on sunday as well, leino will probably do something sweet...too many injuries and not paying attention to details will cost the game, of course, poor goaltending, but that's to be expected from detroit.

Why do people keep bringing this up? Who gives a s*** what the Penguins did?

Because they didn't beat the Isles, it's somehow ok we didn't?

Great teams lose to crappy teams all the time.

Detroit was swept by bottom feeder Chicago in 2008 and won the cup. As much as it sucks to have a game thrown away like that, it's not like this is unheard of.

Man, what the f*** is up with the Wings against the Islanders? Isn't this the 3rd straight loss to them? Ridiculous.

Final/Overtime

Islanders: 4 (Moulson (PPG), Tavares, Joensuu, Parenteau)

Red Wings: 3 (Franzen, Flip, Tatar)

SOG

Islanders: 23

Red Wings: 41

As I said earlier, it looks like the Red Wings need to score 4 or more goals to win, as the defense hasn't been stellar the past couple of games letting in 3 goals, and it ain't the goalie's fault, as it's happened with both Ozzie and Howie. And with one of the best defensive forwards in Datsyuk out, that's going to be a bit of a challenge.

hey, drum... yeah, but tonight, it was doing something odd to my computer, making it freeze up. I had to go sub-standard. ;)

oh, one does need a fairly decent processor/graphics card and internet speed. Other times it's just something random, like the connection to the server just being dumb.

Howard can't stop a ******* beach ball. Start Osgood. Jimmy needs to earn to play.

Detroit needs a real goaltender

Why the hell are you so obsessed with the Flyers? They have as many points as the Red Wings in a s***ty conference.

Really felt that the Wings didn't get beat - they just handed it to them. I suppose they'll use the time-honored "first game home after a road trip" excuse tonight. They started the game great, got an early goal, and then just turned off the jets for most of the game.

Leino and Hudler will have a ***** fight in that game.

And Franzen will not let us get bullied by the big bad Flyers. :D

Howard is great in flashes but if he isn't the star he is almost always the goat. He has yet to learn how to win with the superior team. Howard has been poor in his last half-dozen or so, dozes when the Wings are running a clinic. The team could have played better as a whole and simplified here or there, but Howard needs to win these games. Say what you want about Osgood, he could win the lopsided ones.

I wouldn't ***** if they haven't just beat 2 good teams, avs and stars. Idk doesn't make sense that 4 of the top players in the league have a 4 on 3 opportunity and can't score but then some kids have the same opportunity and do score. I guess it's just like the shootout. That sucks especially after the comeback...

Another game Howard gives up 4. Atleast he won't be that expensive next year.

it's usually great, so I assume it was transient/random... or just being dumb - taking the night off to go out and party? ;)

I get that.

It's just frustrating because it's such a tight race in the west, and you'd hope that they'd pick up wins against the lesser teams, which the Isles definitely are.

But beyond that I also don't see how it matters they beat the Penguins. I'm just worried the fixation here with Crosby and the Pens (especially considering they're not even in the same conference) is starting to get a bit like Hawks fans creepy obsession with the Wings. :P
