Howards positioning is terrible lately, hes coming way outta the crease for no reason. Even Nash's first shot of the game Howard was nowhere near the net and if Nash didn't fan on it he would have an easy goal.

I've argued in the past that some of the 'fluke' goals we were seeing for awhile might have been caused by poor positioning as opposed to just bad luck.

LOL u know its getting bad for Howard when people think an average shot from 30 feet out shouldnt be stopped

That's not an average shot. It was a blast, let alone he was skating into the shot. He had a chance, but you can't blame him for not stopping it.

Wonder if the poor D in front of him is causing him to overcompensate and thus be out of position?

Yeah, that was a "Close your eyes and hope it hits you" shot. Vermette was wide open, coming off the bench, and a clear lane to Howie. Again, nothing Howie could have done other than hope it hits him and deflects away.

Hey, at least they gave up 1 goal this time in the 1st! :hehe:

Fair thought. Could be a chicken/egg kind of thing. Is Jimmy's poor positioning causing the D to make stupid mistakes or are the stupid mistakes by the D resulting in Jimmy's poor positioning?

Either way, we both know the only solution to that:

Resign McCrimmon, drop the goaltenders and put McCrimmon's balls in net.

Howard was slow to get across on the Nash play, looked like he was going into Flop mode, luckily Nash fanned. He wasn't fast enough to play the angle on the goal. And he's lucky on that GI call since it seemed like a fairly soft call. Could easily be 3-0. Gonna be an interesting postseason if he or the D don't get it together.

At least we don't have the Avs goaltending problem, Anderson and Budaj have been beyond awful.

I think we've got two chickens on our hands. Jimmy hasn't been on the ball, but the D has obviously been godawful this year, especially by the Wings' standards, and it doesn't matter who's in net.

Maybe, but he still had no way to get across with either Brassard or Zetterberg blocking the path.
