Playoff Beard Time!

I'll be rocking the bracelet tradition with a twist this year. Last year, I never had enough time to put the red or white bracelet together before the next game, so I will either do a bracelet/anklet or necklace and put a red or white bead on it for each win or loss. Hope there's a helluva lot of red on it! Go Wings!

I still have last years playoff beard, it's better to go in with a beard with some playoff games under it's belt.

Let's Go Red Wings!

Don't make the same mistake I did in 2009, gotta start it fresh!

And i'll be partaking again this year, shaving it tomorrow and not freaking touching it until it's over. I'm even making a calendar-type thing for my office cubicle, which i'll probably post on here later tonight.

I just can't do it. More like won't.

I can grow facial hair absurdly fast, 4-5 days I probably have a decently grown beard if I don't shave, but I just like being clean.

I've never had a full beard. I've grown goatees infrequently throughout life but I'm always impatient with them with itching and the like. Tried growing one and being patient with it in late January or February, only lasted about a week and a half.

So, you'll probably never see me with a beard ever in my life. More power to y'all who are patient enough with them.

my only question is when is the official "last shave" supposed to happen?

There was a lengthy discussion on this a year or two ago. It was determined that there was no official day/time of the last shave, as long as it's before the first game of the playoffs & it isn't touched after you've shaved.

Got the beard shaved off last night... daughter spent the day running around yelling "Stranger Danger!" at me and then cowering in a corner. My wife rolled over in her sleep last night and freaked out as she didn't recognize me... my face being naked for the first time in quite awhile is turning out to be more enjoyable than I had expected.

I'm in!

I shaved a few days ago. This will be my first year partaking in the beard festivities. I also went and bought some thread so I can make bracelets for every win and loss.

Here's to a whole hell of a lot of red!

I have mine since 2008. cut once in a while, but always present.

I''m never going to have Leino, Commodore or Draper look but my wife actually likes the extra hair,

just as my daughter and her school pals who all enjoy to torture me once in a while.

bare chins are for ladies, mind you :notworthy:

Wellllp, normally I do grow one and have since I was able to when I was 12  but this year, I am getting married. June 4th is the date so by that time, if we make it that far, I am guessing it would be at an epic growth rate (which isn't so bad ;) like in 2009. We will see, maybe the lady will allow a round by round beard??

You're already on thin ice with your JLA attendance record. Now you're not going to support the Wings with an epic playoff beard because of a wedding??? Boo this man!!!

Going with the round by round tactic. Won't be nearly as homeless like if I just take 1 at a time here. Hoping for 5 games so this one won't get bad at all.

For those of you looking for an alternative to the beard since you can't/aren't allowed to grow one, I invite you to join us in our little tradition. We started in '08, and you know what happened that year!

Cool! I think I'm going to take Jenny's idea from that thread and make a necklace with a red bead for a win and a white one for a loss.

I've been growing a beard for the first time in my life (trying something new) and it was looking pretty sweet.

I didn't shave prior to Game 1, so maybe I cheated.

But my brother is getting married tomorrow, so I had to shave.:P

A bit devo because I was liking the look of it, but I figure I should've shaved before we started the playoffs anyway, so now I'm back where most are.

You can't shave before the Wings play though :hehe:

I don't think I can do it again. I shaved Wednesday morning, so technically I can still partake. I did it in 09 and it was almost unbearable. Not nearly as bad as that last game was though...

Here was mine at game 5 of the SCF in 09 (first Wings game). Unfortunately, last game we won that year.
