Convince Columbus to take some dead weight off our hands (Sammy?) plus Quincey, convince them he's a decent, reliable defender, throw in a 2nd round pick or a good prospect. Imagine a first line next year/ end of this year with z-dats-gaborik!!! Then you got Weiss, mule, Tatar, nyquist, helm, and possibly alfy, another top 9 guy, or Abby. They've both been playing OK, they may want to come back for another year, I could see Bert retiring though, as his court case starts in September, so he may want to concentrate on that. Thing is, we need to create spots. Almquist, Ferraro and Sheahan are not waiver exempt next season, Jurco is already a PPG player in the AHL at age 20. I don't mean our UFAs (though obviously that factors into it), I mean other teams' UFAs. I haven't looked into this, but my vague impression is that this is supposed to be a pretty epic class. Especially because we know he plays well with pav and z. I'm sure babs would love a younger guy for the speed and energy if he could play as well with them as Bert does but it's nice to have him at least as a backup plan. As for the others.. alfie is likely done and if not, I'd love to have him back. Class act. Quincy I see getting resigned unfortunately.. Sammy is done. Should Blashill take over for Babs? Should we look into trying some kind of mystical rain dance victory ritual dealy? Is there any way we can get Daniel Cleary back in the top-six, preferably on the first line with Pavs and Z? Daniel Cleary voodoo doll(s)? All those octopi that've jumped over the glass and fallen to the ice over the years...could it be that they've been trying to warn us of the suckage to come? Did they know?
